Up and coming Christian Hip-Hop artist Kyle Alexander’s motives for making music are clear. He wants to create fun music with a vibe that delivers a positive message. Furthermore, he wants to use his God-given talents to help people, to lift them up, to bring hope, and to lead people to live life at their best in Jesus. He wants to be an example, a light to people during these dark times.
I spoke with Kyle about his inspiration to write music and his experiences collaborating with his wife on his new single, “4Twentyiv.”
You’ve been working hard writing and recording music for a number of years. What has kept you driven to continue to do so?
What drives me to create music is the responsibility that I have. Music is my purpose and I know that the songs I create can lead to freedom and deliverance for people. So it's important that I keep releasing music because I know with every song I'm reaching someone.
I also love to create new music. The excitement of bringing a song to life and seeing it completed is what I imagine it would be like to have a child (I don't have any kids, though).
You worked with fellow Christian hip-hop artist Steven Malcolm on the 2019 remix of your song, “Oh My God.” Who else is on your upcoming collaboration shortlist?
The song I did with Steven Malcolm was a really dope record, so make sure you check it out. I have a few really dope collaborations on the way. One is with contemporary gospel singer Jor'dan Armstrong. This song is amazing and I can't wait to drop it. There are also a few other big features on the way. But, I have to keep them a secret for now.
Talk about “4Twentyiv,” the recent single you recorded with your wife, fellow hip-hop artist Michelle-Lee.
My wife, Michelle-Lee, is an incredible artist. Music is one of the main things that brought us together when we first started dating. We’re working on a joint album called Without Reservation, which will be coming out soon.
What messages do you want to convey to your listeners as you move forward?
I want my listeners to know that no matter what they've been through and what they go through, God is there for them. I want my listeners to know that He has amazing things in store for them. I want my listeners to look at my life and see that God can use people who were once lost, broken, doubtful, hurting, suicidal, and written off. He uses their pain, hurt, doubt, and brokenness for his glory.
What’s next?
Next, I'll be releasing my first EP, which will be out sometime in September 2021. I'm really excited to share all of the new music I've been working on. I have some incredible music to share with the world and I'm really looking forward to releasing it. It's time.
How can we be praying for you?
Pray that God continues to speak through me as I communicate his message to the masses. Pray that God continues to open amazing doors of opportunity for me as I follow Him and the purpose He's called me for.
