Worship artist
Sarah Reeves has joined Sparrow Records and released her debut album
Sweet Sweet Sound EP on 4/21/09. She is a nineteen-year-old Alabama native, and was introduced to Sparrow Records by Plumb lead singer Tiffany Lee and her husband Jeremy after hearing Sarah open for their group. Sarah co-wrote "Sweet Sweet Sound" with Nashville veteran Ed Cash, who has written hit songs with Chris Tomlin, Bebo Norman, Bethany Dillon and Vicky Beeching.
"Sweet Sweet Sound" is a worship-inducing song distinguished by Sarah's sweet vocals which immediately reminded me of Leigh Nash, Ginny Owens and also fellow newcomer Joy Lippard. I have been really enjoying this song since I first heard it and love the theme and Sarah’s sincere singing style. It is also a cry of my heart that God would use me to be an instrument to glorify my King. That’s why I love delving into the background of my favorite songs and trying to live for Jesus.
I recently had the opportunity to speak with Sarah about "Sweet Sweet Sound."
What does "Sweet Sweet Sound" mean to you?
This song is special to me because it was truly birthed out of spontaneous praise. "Sweet Sweet Sound" simply sings the true definition of worship. All my life, I thought worship was just going to church and singing songs. Now I know that it is truly a lifestyle. No matter if I'm in my room, at the mall, or in my car, my heart can continually be worshiping my Savior in everything that I do. As a musician, I like to look at my life as a song. I ask that God would make me His instrument and that my life would be a sweet sweet sound in His ears.
Please tell me about the line "Worship is everything, I live to glorify my King?"
Ed Cash and I met to write songs together and he suggested we just worship God together and we’d let the results of our worship be our song. So, the song and that line is about how worship is everything.
How about the line "So I will testify even in the fire, I live to praise my Savior?"
I know we all go through struggles and sometimes it’s hard to remember that in the midst of our struggles we still need to live for God.
How did you select the Bible verse from Psalm 150 for the song?
That’s really the theme of the song, the whole album and my ministry. The song and album is a prayer and response in praise and worship to God.
Lyrics to "Sweet Sweet Sound"
I am an instrument
Of the living God
My life a melody to His name.
More than the songs I sing,
Worship is everything
I live to glorify my King.
Chorus
Hear the song of my life
Let it be a sweet sweet sound.
Let it be a sweet sweet sound.
I raise this anthem high
Let it be a sweet sweet sound.
Let it be a sweet sweet sound.
Through all the mire and clay
You're washing me with grace
You carry me oh Lord through it all.
So I will testify
Even in the fire
I live to praise my Savior.
Chorus
Let everything that has breath
Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord
And all creation will sing
Hallelujah
I think God wants all of us to live our lives as a sweet sweet sound for Him. No matter the song of your life: teaching, learning, building, selling, serving, designing, caring, preaching, fixing, etc. My job is to provide consulting services for companies who buy health insurance for their employees. What this song means for me is to let my insurance consulting services and my words and actions be a sweet sweet sound to God. We all have a story and vocation and our praise and worship is much more than just singing. Try to praise God in everything that you do and live to worship. God bless!
