Trust by Jaci Velasquez is loaded with melodic and worshipful songs that speak the truth of the Word of God into the heart of today's culture. The album includes original worship songs and new recordings of some of Jaci's favorite worship songs, including "Great Are You Lord." It is Velasquez's first worship album, a project which was inspired by her youngest son, Soren.

Thematically, the album thoughtfully draws on themes of faith, love and trust--acknowledging that living a life of faith isn't without trouble, but there is always purpose in that suffering and redemption is promised. The album includes empowering songs about the motivating power of God's love. I had the great opportunity to speak with Jaci about "God Who Moves the Mountains," and this is what she shared with me.

Please tell me the personal story behind this song.

I didn't plan on making a worship record, and I didn't ever think that was where God was leading me. God of course does what He wants to, and He speaks to you in the way that you are willing to hear and follow the path that He wants for you.

One night, my youngest son Soren woke up in the middle of the night calling out for me. Of course, in my 2:30 a.m. waking up scenario, I stumbled in and said, "I'm coming." When I got to him, he said "Mom, I had two bad dreams. The first was two cars speeding fast and they hit each other." I told him it was okay, that's a bad dream but it didn't happen. I asked about his other dream. He said, "My other dream was that Satan was trying to take over the world." He's my youngest and he's always thinking and always listening. I said, "Let me tell you a secret, Satan is trying to take over the world." He said, "Really?" I asked him, "Do you love Jesus? Is Jesus in your heart?" He answered "yes," and I told him he didn't need to be scared, because he knows the God who moves the mountains.

I remembered in that moment that song that I was sent to sing for this album. I went downstairs and got my phone and played the song for my son. In the dark stillness of the room I closed my eyes and raised my hands, and I could just feel the presence and peace of God in the room. When it got to the second verse of the song, I opened my eyes and looked at him and he was crying. I told him he didn't need to be scared anymore. The next morning, Soren asked if I could play that Jesus song he heard the night before on his way to school. God knew the way to get to me and He always knows how to speak to us in a way that we hear Him and do what He says.

Which Bible verses connect to the message of the song?

Lamentations 3:22-24 (MSG): God's loyal love couldn't have run out, His merciful love couldn't have dried up. They're created new every morning. How great Your faithfulness! I'm sticking with God (I say it over and over). He's all I've got left.

Matthew 17:20 (NIV): He replied, "Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

Matthew 19:26 (NIV): Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

Hebrews 11:1 (NLT): "Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see."

2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV): "For we walk by faith, not by sight."

Romans 4:3 (NLT): For the Scriptures tell us, "Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith."

Romans 8:28 (VOICE): "We are confident that God is able to orchestrate everything to work toward something good and beautiful when we love Him and accept His invitation to live according to His plan."

What is the takeaway message?

We know the God who moves the mountains. He parts the seas, and He loves us more than we can imagine. I wasn't planning to make a worship album, because I normally make Christian pop music. At that moment with my son, He spoke to me and my child with exactly what I needed to hear for the peace and joy and excitement that we needed. For a little boy, fear is a mountain. We are worried about finances and other mountains in our lives, but for a seven year old in his bed, fear is real. Since that night, he hasn't woken up again with a nightmare.

This album is called "Trust" for a reason. Relationships require trust. You have to trust your spouse in everything. You can't have relationships without trust. It's probably the hardest thing to do in our relationship with God. For me, as a mom, I'm a control freak. I need to make sure everything is just right. There are so many things in life we can't control. When we are facing challenges, like with my oldest son's autism, I need to trust that God loves my son more than I do. I know that logically, but I need to trust that God can and God will, and that's hard. I know it, but feeling peace and rest is the hardest part. My prayer is for my son to have a full life, but trusting isn't easy. We are all facing, have faced, or will face something where we will have to rely and trust in God.

Lyrics:
He is not confined, He confounds
He will not resign, He resounds
He is not restrained, oh hear the sound
Oh hear the sound

The rocks are falling
The broken calling
To the God who moves the mountains
The earth is shaking
The weary waking
To the God who moves the mountains
The God who moves the mountains

He is not surprised, He surrounds
He cannot be stopped, He astounds
He is drawing near, oh hear the sound
Oh hear the sound

The rocks are falling
The broken calling
To the God who moves the mountains
The earth is shaking
The weary waking
To the God who moves the mountains
The God who moves the mountains

You say speak, and we say move
And You say watch, what You can do
You say trust, and then You prove
You're the God who moves the mountains
The God who moves the mountains

You say speak, and we say move
You say watch, what You can do
You say trust, and then You prove
You're the God who moves the mountains
You gotta move this mountain

The rocks are falling
The broken calling
To the God who moves the mountains
The earth is shaking
The weary waking
To the God who moves the mountains
The God who moves the mountains

The rocks are falling
The broken calling
To the God who moves the mountains
My earth is shaking
The weary waking
To the God who moves the mountains
You gotta move this mountain

"God Who Moves the Mountains" is totally inspiring and is a great reminder as Jaci prays, "You say speak and we say move, You say watch what You can do. You say trust and then You prove, You're the God who moves the mountains." We need to have that type of faith that Jesus describes in the Bible: "Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." As followers of Jesus, we know that we can trust God's Word. We are all a work in progress. Have faith and let God "work all things together for good." Spend time with God, and let Him redeem and restore you.

Jaci has sung another great anthem for the Church that reminds us that under our own strength, many mountains we face will seem impossible, but with God all things are possible. The same goes for salvation. We can't earn Heaven, and only through complete surrender to Jesus and putting all of our hope in Him can we be saved. As Christians, we all can loudly proclaim: "The rocks are falling, the broken calling to the God who moves the mountains. My earth is shaking, the weary waking, to the God who moves the mountains--You gotta move this mountain." Amen to that!
