Powerhouse female vocalist Kerrie Roberts, known for her hit CCM pop songs "No Matter What," "Outcast," "Rescue Me (How the Story Ends)" and "What Are You Afraid Of," recently released her first ever full-length worship album, Boundless. As a pastor's daughter, Kerrie's heart as a worshipper has been heard throughout her albums as her powerful songs "No Matter What," "Savior to Me (Sing Glory)," "In Your Sight" and "My Heart's Lifted" have all been vertical offerings of praise and worship.
Entering into her songs, you can't help but be moved to hear how God has healed her heart, gaining insights into God's character as you listen to how she words her prayers of thankfulness and praise as catchy and instantly sing-able melodies, like if we could hear David sing his Psalms to God. I had the chance to speak with Kerrie about the title track "Boundless."
Please tell me the personal story behind this song.
Towards the end of 2015, we had realized that I had written several new worship songs, and I was asked to write songs for a full album. I didn't know if that part of my brain was there with my newborn daughter being born in early 2016, and I had to step out in faith and ask God what He wanted me to say in these songs.
When it came time to start working on this record, I was still trying to find my rhythm as a new mom. Part of me was scared if I would be able to do this. I was sleep deprived, in a total haze, and felt like my brain was non-functional. How was I going to access that creative part of me? Would it ever even feel alive again? I started to just try. That's what I've always done. I'm a big fan of "doing it afraid."
I prayed for inspiration and started to begin to direct my focus. All the songs came to life in different ways, but I love that the inspiration for "Boundless" happened while I was sitting up late with my baby in the state of total exhaustion. I believe it was divinely inspired. God gave me the lyrics "There's no shore to the ocean of Your love, no ceiling or floor to the power of Your blood, You are boundless," and then I had my template.
Working on the album, there were things in the past I would have obsessed over, and by sharing my life and my time with my daughter I've learned to release control, letting go and letting it be what it is instead of obsessing. Yes, God is boundless. It was God's way of speaking to me to let me know that I could do this, and He didn't give me the opportunity to fail, but to do it for His glory. That's the story of this song.

What is the takeaway message?
The message of the song is that He is endless, limitless and measureless. There is no mountain, no words, no darkness, doubt or disease that is greater than Him. His peace is stronger than any war. His reach is boundless, most importantly reaching into our personal depths, changing our hearts and lives forever.
My husband and I moved back home near where I grew up in Florida a little before our daughter was born. The whole reason I lived in Nashville was to be central for touring, and since I'm mostly flying in for events now, I don't have to be in Tennessee. My brother and sister also live here in Florida. For the longest time, not that I've necessarily struggled with anxiety, but more perfectionism, and recently losing a friend to cancer has committed me even more to spending time in prayer and the Word and has led to me focusing on worship.
I wouldn't have had the right attitude to make a worship album when I started recording in 2009, but at this time in my life I'm more focused on praise and worshipping Him than I ever have been. I'm making the time to worship Him on my own more than ever, taking time out to focus on Him and build my relationship with God, wanting more of Him.

Thematically, this worshipful album explores a thoughtful side of faith, hope and love, and the acknowledgment that an authentic life of faith isn't void of suffering. There is purpose amidst pain. For me, this song reflects what's on my heart. My greatest desire as a follower of Jesus is to live out the Gospel, and the songs on this album all help me with my walk and challenge me to gain that "righteousness that comes from God and is by faith." This song celebrates the truth from Ephesians and Romans about grasping "how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ." Allow the fullness of Christ's love to indwell in your heart and proclaim the truth of this song. Know that being His is enough.
Pay close attention to the profound lyrics in this song. God is speaking to us in His still, small voice, and as believers we need to take time to "be still and know that He is God." Are you allowing The Holy Spirit to work in your life? Are you spending time listening to Him? We can all find comfort in seeking God's presence, knowing that He is always with us and wants to make His home in our hearts. We are never alone or need to feel lonely as God's daughters and sons. Spend time with God and let Him redeem and restore you.
As Paul says in Ephesians 3:18 (NIV): only "through His Spirit... may you be able to comprehend the width, length, depth, and height of the Love of Christ." A.W. Tozer said "We should not find it miraculous that God is victorious. What else would He be? But we should find it miraculous that we can be victorious through Him." Allow the fullness of Christ's Love to indwell in your heart and proclaim the truth of this song back to Jesus, "There's no shore to the ocean of Your love, no ceiling or floor to the power of Your blood. You are boundless, You're boundless." Amen to that!
