Kevin Davis continues his popular devotional series exploring the themes behind Third Day's latest smash single.
REVELATION: noun
1. the speech act of making something evident
2. an enlightening or astonishing disclosure
3. communication of knowledge to man by a divine or supernatural agency
4. the last book of the New Testament; contains visionary descriptions of heaven and of conflicts between good and evil and of the end of the world.
"Revelation" is the title song from Third Day’s most recent album.
Mac Powell, lead singer for Third Day recently explained the song. "'Revelation' is evidence that we didn’t want to settle with this record. When we recorded the album, we had plenty of songs to make the album, but we knew that we still wanted a couple more ideas. 'Revelation' was one of those prayer songs that I had written. A lot of people see the title of it and assume they know what it’s about, but it’s not really having to do with finding a revelation as with needing one. I’m really praying 'God, I’m at this crossroad in my life and I genuinely don’t know what to do.' It’s asking God to give guidance in that time of question."
Here are some great questions from the devotional book Solo:
Have you heard it said that our sole purpose in life is to worship God? Why is God worthy of our worship? What has God saved you from, specifically? These are some great questions to ponder while reading and thinking about the following bible verses that are from Revelation 7:17 and 1st John 3:2 relative to our hope when Jesus is fully revealed (Revelation).
"For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."
"Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is."
My life, Has led me down the road that’s so uncertain
And now I am left alone and I am broken,
Trying to find my way,
Trying to find the faith that’s gone
This time, I know that you are holding all the answers
I’m tired of losing hope and taking chances,
On roads that never seem,
To be the ones that bring me home
Give me a revelation,
Show me what to do
Cause I’ve been trying to find my way,
I haven’t got a clue
Tell me should I stay here,
Or do I need to move
Give me a revelation
I’ve got nothing without You
I’ve got nothing without You
My life, Has led me down this path that’s ever winding
Through every twist and turn I’m always finding,
That I am lost again (I am lost again)
Tell me when this road will ever end
Give me a revelation,
Show me what to do
Cause I’ve been trying to find my way,
I haven’t got a clue
Tell me should I stay here,
Or do I need to move
Give me a revelation
I’ve got nothing without You
I’ve got nothing without…
I don’t know where I can turn
Tell me when will I learn
Won’t You show me where I need to go
Oh oh
Let me follow Your lead,
I know that it’s the only way that I can get back home
Give me a revelation,
Show me what to do
Cause I’ve been trying to find my way,
I haven’t got a clue
Tell me should I stay here,
Or do I need to move
Give me a revelation
I’ve got nothing without You
I’ve got nothing without You
Oh, give me a revelation…
I’ve got nothing without You
I’ve got nothing without You
As I sing along with this song in worship to my God, I think of my gratitude that I have God to turn to for revelation in my life. God thank You for saving me! Thank You for the blood of Jesus that washes away my sins! As I struggle to find my way in this life, I am so grateful for the hope that I have in Jesus. What a great anthem of praise and gratitude as we acknowledge we’ve got "nothing without You." Amen.
