I came to Christ eight years ago and had what you would call a radical conversion. I can still taste the sin; I remember how it feels, the way it looks and what it leads to. However, I am certain that I am not that man any more. He has been buried. 2nd Corinthians 5:17 tells me that the old man is gone, he has been put to death and that the new has come, and I believe it with everything I am.

There is but one reason why this former sinner, adulterer, violent wretch of a man can stand justified today--only one reason why I am clean, forgiven and considered a son of God the Most High. The debt I owed for my shameful life was put to death in Jesus Christ 2,000 years ago. He was nailed to and lifted high on a tree, between two criminals, soaked in blood, wrecked with pain and freely bared the weight of our sin. He was spat upon and mocked, given over like a lamb to be slaughtered. Jesus allowed them, you and I to kill Him on that cross, so that the wrath and justice of God could be satisfied and we could be set gloriously, wonderfully free.

That was on a Friday, but on the Sunday, Christ burst alive from the grave, the majestic conquering Savior. He stole the keys to death and Hades in the greatest victory in history, the resurrection. Hallelujah! Hallelujah, mighty King. Death has been defeated and I, along with everyone who believes in the name of Jesus, get to rise with Christ in new, glistening, perfectly clean and totally wonderful life. O Death where is your sting? 

Rejoice, people; it's Easter! Death is gone, the King is alive and so am I. Praise be to God in the highest! Praise be to our wonderful Saviour!
