Spring tours like
The Rock & Worship Roadshow and
WinterJam are both well underway, complete with plenty of documentation via Twitter and Instagram. This week seemed to be a good one for spotlighting fans in unusual places. Catch up on the details below!
TOP TEN TWEETS
#1 - MercyMe Monopoly
@macpowell: Hey @bartmillard Two Christian radio stations in Atlanta are playing you at the same time. Not fair. Save some airtime for the rest of us. (February 11)
Apparently Bart Millard's diabolical plan to take over the Southern airwaves is finally coming to fruition, to the distress of fellow artist Mac Powell (frontman of Third Day).
#2 - Spotlighted
@therealtobymac: “@itsbrittnicole: Last night was amazing! Such an honor 2 be nominated with such great artist! Congratulations tobymac. Thanks Britt!! (February 11)
The week started off with some very deserving artists enjoying a moment in the spotlight at the Grammys. Christian artists TobyMac, Lecrae, and Matt Redman all took home awards. (By the way, Toby and Britt both have nominations in the
WE LOVE AWARDS.)
#3 - Mix and Match
@disciplerocks: In one week, the members of Disciple have doubled!! Please join Kevin, Trent, and Josiah in welcoming the newest member of the band... http://fb.me/2q0q0UDNM (February 12)
Disciple managed to double in numbers this week, bringing Josiah Prince of Philmont and Jason Wilkes of High Flight Society on board as full time members of the band.
#4 - For Your Rock
@jrmeadkutless: I head-banged so hard tonight, that I gave myself a bloody nose. #foryourROCK (February 12)
Just in case you needed a new definition for “harcore...” James Mead of Kutless has got it covered.
#5 - Spotify Side Effects
@davidmzach: always have to set my spotify to 'private' session to prevent a vast playlist of disney princess music from being proclaimed on my facebook (February 13)
Spotify should come with a warning (especially for parents) that linking it to facebook can have immediate and lasting side effects.
#6 - Memory Making
@karijobe: Well--creepiest valentines day. A fugitive got lose in Grapevine 3 days ago and police swat teams are swarming my neighborhood... #wasntme (February 15)
Kari Jobe's Valentine's Day this year will certainly be memorable, though maybe not in the best way.
#7 - Shake Things Up
#8 - Burning Up
@redmusiconline: Thanks for a killer night Greensboro! Use aloe for any burns...we do! Love you all! #WinterJam2013 (February 16)
Just in case you hit a stop on the Winter Jam tour this time around, and just in case you get a little too close to the stage during RED's set... they provided some advice via Twitter.
#9 - Misinformation
@TheRocketSummer: That moment when you realize the kick boxing class you joined at the gym is more like kick dancing. (February 16)
Although we can't celebrate Bryce Avary's misfortune... we can enjoy trying to visualize what a cross between kick boxing and dancing would look like.
#10 - Some Spontaneity
@mattmahermusic: I think it would be really inspiring if once a day, TSA folks broke into a flash mob (February 16)
...Or maybe even the Harlem Shake?

#1 - Dedicated Fans
@theroadshow: The only fan that's made it to every #rwrs13 so far. Fans like this remind us of why we do what we do. http://instagr.am/p/VmZdmDkXat/ (February 11)
And it's tweets like these that remind us of the value of Twitter. The Rock and Worship Roadshow certainly has some dedicated fans this year.
#2 - Downsizing
Jon Foreman of Switchfoot is currently out on To Write Love On Her Arms' Heavy and Light Tour, crewed by Renaissance man and Relient K drummer Ethan Luck... who seems to have picked up a new instrument not quite his size. Maybe he just couldn't fit a real Les Paul into his luggage?
#3 - Owl Attitude
@theroyalROYAL: Gabe and I awarded with the Golden Owl award for "good attitude in the studio". pic.Twitter.com/bZjZpTeD (February 13)
Although not in the running for any Grammys, The Royal Royal managed to snag an award of their own. The legitimacy of said distinction is still under investigation.
#4 - Taking Flight
They pulled out all the stops for the Roadshow's landing in Dallas, Texas. How many other tours have their own blimp?
#5 - Feathered Fans
@jessegarcia429: First fan at the entrance to tonight's show. Mee feels muy especial. #GodsNotDead tour kicks off here in Arvada, CO. pic.Twitter.com/LapBcSnl (February 15)
The Spring 2013 run of the God's Not Dead tour, featuring Newsboys and Building 429, hit the road this week. Lines started forming early for the sold out opening night in Denver... apparently the bands have started reaching a new market.
#6 - Innovations
One of the latest innovations Twitter is experimenting with is the introduction of Vine, an app that allows Twitter users to post short, looping video clips. In case you need an example of how it works... Adam Young of Owl City demonstrates with this clip of a shopping cart and snow monolith.
#7 - Rite of Passage
@flyleafmusic: Flyleaf toured n an '88 Ford Club Wagon 4 our 1st 10 US tours We feel your pain—when i say we i mean #JamesCulpepper pic.Twitter.com/cyPFFtLZ (February 16)
No matter how far a band goes... they will always be marked by the early days of fighting the road in a 15-passenger van.
#8 - Band Fans
One of the best parts of the massive multi-band tours that roll out each Spring is the way friendships (and new fans) are forged as bands show support for each other. Here Soul Glow A

ctivatur of Family Force 5 is rocking a Rhett Walker Band T-shirt on stage to support some fellow Southerners.
#9 - Limitations
In case you wondered: not every artist can play every instrument. Fortunately, worship artist Aaron Keyes chose not to use the Vine app for this one.
#10 - Finding Bebo
@jjheller: This is the result of a late night conversation on our tour bus! @bebonorman I hope you love this as much as we do:) pic.Twitter.com/NJtQhRTh (February 16)
Late night conversations can result in some dangerous--and awesome--things. Or in this case, a dangerously awesome photo manipulation of Bebo Norman by tour mate J.J. Heller and Co.
