EXPLOSIVE LIVE EXPERIENCE THAT’S BEST ON DVD| Posted September 29, 2008
Not only is Underoath one of the most intense live acts on the road regardless of genre, but the hard rockers are among the most popular (no matter solo or on the “Rockstar Energy Mayhem Tour”). Though catching the band in its inaugural audio/visual concert collection is a fitting snapshot for anyone wanting to relive or initially encounter the undertaking, it doesn’t quite match the explosiveness of the in-person experience.
For starters, the CD portion of Survive, Kaleidoscope is culled from several shows, which demonstrates the band’s searing consistency regardless of the city, but lacks the recorded continuity of a single date. However, it doesn’t taint the furious guitar thrashes of “In Regards To Myself” and the scream-filled proclamation “Young and Aspiring,” even if Underoath’s frenetic audience participation can’t be gleaned from a stereo session.
Thankfully, the accompanying DVD corrects many of those minor blunders, coming straight from the Electric Factory in Philadelphia and allowing members to come literally as close as the cameras allow. From the early “Returning Empty Handed” to the encore “Moving For the Sake of Motion,” the players’ unrelenting force is contagious, while the more melodic-minded will still find solace throughout the reflective “To Whom It May Concern.” It still won’t match the hysteria of actually being there, but at least this footage aptly provides the next closet opportunity. –Andy Argyrakis

very well done| Posted July 02, 2008
I really loved this CD/DVD. The DVD was filmed so well! Everything about it was done very professionally and it looks great. I like how on the CD the songs were recorded at different places...you get to hear what they are like on different nights! If you love Underoath you'll love this!
Pretty good| Posted June 18, 2008
Well, this live cd/dvd has a pretty high quality. The dvd looks amazing, except for the fact that they got Young & Aspiring titled in the dvd as Returning Empty Handed, which was the first song (who would make that mistake, honestly?). This gets me pumped for when I see them in September, and for the new album.
Great but with a few down falls.| Posted June 03, 2008
This was filmed in Philadelphia, PA on ther fall headlining tour, and the CD was recorded on other spots on the tour.I'll start of my review with the CD thers no talking in between songs ther are also parts wher they have the audience sing but on the CD it's almost dead silence.but on the positive side the audio is the best i've ever listing to on a live CD.Now for the DVD part let me first say I've never seen Underoath live,But i think this DVD is as close as i can get to seeing them live.On the bottem right hand side it says what song ther geting ready to play, but ther wher some typos like on Young And Aspiring it said Returning Empty Handed but that was the first song they played.Or it would cut of part of the titled like on Everyone Looks So Good From Here it said Everyone Looks So Good From He but this did not happen on A Boy Brushed Red Living In Black And White.also on some of the camera shots ther wher some circles from the lights,And this DVD only has the concert and nothing else so i was a litle sad about that. But it was a great concert.I liked how it did't just have the cameras on Spencer and Aaron all the guys got some time in front of the cameras. So be for you buy this,go to Underoaths myspace or purevolume page and listing to ther live song and wach at lest one of ther live videos and see if this is sothing you be willing to buy. This would be a good buy if you've never seen them,or saw them on this tour.
