I believe that Define the Great Line is one of Underoath's best albums. It is by far good Christian music that rocks hardcore. Underoath rocks!!!!

Underoath is slowly straying away from the screamo genre and moving towards hardcore with this album, and i like it. This album has great samples, and complicated guitar. I bought it the week after it came out, and still listen to it at least once a month.
Brutal new sound| Posted October 28, 2007
This album is just chock full of goodness. I personally did not like Act of Depression in the least. Changing of times was okay, but you won't catch it mysteriously stuck in my CD player for a week. Then, They're Only Chasing Safety came out and blew me away. I heard that they were coming out with another release and I was stoked. I remember thinking, "if it's anything like They're Only Chasing Safety, it's gonna be awesome". Then, I got it and it was nothing like the prior. However, it was still nothing short of spectacular. They actually took a step back into something a little harder, but turns out I liked the way they approached it this time around. As it turns out, I rank this album leagues over its predecessors. If you like hardcore and you end up giving this a try you will probably get like three more years out of your eject button on your CD player.

What an amazing follow to "We're only Chasing Safety. The music is so intense and aggressive not to mention the amazingly deep lyrics
this album will blow your mind| Posted August 26, 2007
Dude, this cd is amazing. You might not like it at first. Thats fine, I wasn't to thrilled about the screaming either. But once you listen to it a few times, then it really starts to grow on you. Give underoath a chance, and this is the cd to do it.

After overcoming some critical personal shakeups to produce 2004's excellent THEY'RE ONLY CHASING SAFETY, Florida's Underoath fulfilled the immense expectations set by that album--to transcend their audience's demands and still uphold their Christian metal roots--with 2006's DEFINE THE GREAT LINE. The Band undertakes this follow-up effort with such unbending ferocity that they leave most of their pop/screamo contemporaries in the dust. Vocalist Spencer Chamberlain removes himself from the sugary trappings of his brethren frontmen, gracing even his melodic passages with the angst and chaos that underline his more lungbusting turns. The band behind him has learned enough lessons from legitimate, vinyl-only, handmade-sleeve '90s screamo to make more learned listeners realize that these guys are as close to the real deal as anyone. Combining bracing melodies with unchecked aggression, Underoath may have made the defining album of the movement with DEFINE THE GREAT LINE.
Underoath construct dense, chaotic metalcore that emphasizes the struggle inherent in faith.
They flaunt their hard-rock prowess with flailing, bottom-heavy riffs throughout, while letting their punk rock and post-hardcore roots show.
