God’s over my life, let’s go! | Posted May 24, 2025
What You Need to Know
Worship pastor and songwriter Jon Reddick has a heart for the church. Throughout his writing career, he’s intentionally composed lyrics that speak about redemption and hope in a way that impacts cross-cultural narratives of a generation hungry for healing. Reddick’s release No Fear was preceded by the hit song “No Fear,” which proclaims, “No fear, the light of the world makes the darkness disappear.” In the vein of that declaration, these songs help remind us that we weren’t made for this world, and as followers of Jesus who have put all of their hope in Christ know and sing, “not over my life,” remember, “Yea, though I walk, through the valley, I will have no fear.”

What it Sounds Like
This album includes creative, insightful lyrics and ear-grabbing melodies. The album's vibe is one of the highlights, with Jon’s signature emotive vocals layered throughout every track. The album features a soothing and worshipful style resembling the latest offerings by praise groups Shane and Shane and The Worship Initiative, where Reddick has contributed along with singer Aaron Williams on the hit song, “Abide.”

Spiritual Highlights
The album features the emotionally powerful track, “No Fear,” an album highlight. The message is found 365 times throughout Scripture, not to fear, worry, or have anxiety: “I will have no fear, the mighty power of Jesus is fighting for me here.” “Yield” is another standout song. I can’t get enough of the vibe and biblical message of the song, especially the lyrics, If anything I do, doesn’t bring glory to You, I surrender.” Another biblical sentiment is found in “I Believe It (The Life of Jesus),” which will have you singing along, “I believe in the life of Jesus, I believe that He conquered death, I believe in the resurrection, I believe He’s coming back again.”

Best Song
“What A Love” is the song I find myself singing throughout the day, and one of my daily prayers is to ask God to indwell me and my family with His spiritual gifts. I love the build to the lyrics, “What a love, a wondrous love, I am sealed with hope, I’m bound by blood, oh give thanks to the Lamb of God, Sing Hallelujah for our Savior’s love”. “Don’t Fight Alone” has a stirring chorus, “I know that I don’t fight alone, I know that I don’t fight alone, This is His promise, Yeah, this is my hope, No matter what it looks like, I don’t fight alone.”  My favorite song is the title track. The album includes three songs, one with the contemporary group We the Kingdom and an infectious live version. I have adopted the anthem as my daily prayer: “No fear, not over my life, not over my life, not over my family, not over my future, not over my life, God’s over my life, let’s go”!

Final Word
No Fear is an excellent collection of confessional and authentic expressions of faith. The songs are poignant and powerful, with intensity and intentionality. This album challenges me to think about how I’m living out my faith. Every song entirely focuses me as a listener on joining in praise, worship, and adoration. These are very passionate songs sung with vocal sincerity and reverence, with biblically based lyrics. These songs will undoubtedly connect with listeners and showcase Jon Reddick’s balance of vocal tenderness and lyrical intensity, beautiful and stirring musical arrangements, and songs with hope and inspiration.
