"Making the world safe to be ordinary" is their motto and reaching out to teenagers is their desire. Founded by former Church of Rhythm member Max Hsu, Superchick was conceived after being on the road and listening to the issues many teens face. Karaoke Superstar offers an eclectic fusion of pop-punk, hip-hop and disco funk and includes "Barlow Girls," "TV Land" and "Get Up."

The debut album from Superchick, at first listen, sounds very shoddy. The production value isn't the best, Tricia Brock's vocals sound flat, and most of the songs sound the same. While these are major flaws of the album, the positive lyrics and the rock/disco/hip hop sound really make it an enjoyable listen.

love this! superchick has a very unique sound: kind of pop/rock/techno! the lyrics have really good meaning behind them and the remixes are amazing as well.

Superchick is absolutely amazing. This album is one of my all time favorites. The songs are fun to dance to and great to sing along to.
Garage Bands Rock| Posted September 30, 2008
I got this cd after I got the one which has almost all the same songs only remixed. I like the other versions better cuz they're what I got used to. But, I do love this cd cuz it totally sounds like a garage band. Like a real first cd. I love it, but I noticed that they've really downsized their band.

I would have to say that because of this cd, this is how the band "Barlow Girl" got started, but that's just what I think!
Anywho- This cd is so much fun to listen to,
the song "One Girl Revolotion", which I love can be heard in a lot of movies, such as "Leagally Blonde".Awesome cd, superchic[k] is amazing!
But please note, that this cd was and sounds like it was made for preteen, and teenage girls.

This CD is really good for a garage band, but for a major label release it's just okay. Their messages are good, but the production is a little cheesy and the vocals are flat. My favorite songs are "Get Up" and "One Girl Rev". Like I said, just okay.
I have to agree| Posted October 22, 2007
Well, I have to agree on the review--Superchick may not really be my cup of tea, but this album was groundbreaking in their genre and spawned several other bands. A very fun listen.
