A great anthem for God-given identity!| Posted December 19, 2017
Independent pop/contemporary artist Lauren Bea has teamed up with legendary dcTalk bassist (and producer) Otto Price to create her debut EP, but the singer is anything but new to making music. A worship leader for most of her life, Bea's forthcoming project is the latest step in a life full of watching God's promises unfold in her life.
A recent mother and married to New York Giants linebacker Keenan Robinson, Bea understands the messages women need to hear, regardless of their stage of life. The result of this heart to empower women is her first single, "Wildflower."
This midtempo inspirational song uses subtle jungle-house electronic instrumentation to carry Bea's simultaneously powerful and soothing lead vocals. Piano, bass orchestral hits and excellent use of multiple layers of Bea's voice make for a peaceful pop experience.
Of course, lyrics are front and center here, and they're indeed powerful, as they address feelings of comparison, feeling failure, stress and pressure. The first verse will likely provide a punch right to the feels: "You wonder if you're lost / Feeling like a fraud / Surrounded by the thoughts / That you're not good enough."
The chorus relates each woman to a wildflower--unique, standing tall in their beauty, existing effortlessly in the way they were created. The bridge brings home the concept: "Go ahead and bloom / Let your colors shine through / You're most beautiful, natural / Naturally you."
The Bottom Line:
It's awesome to hear inspirational/contemporary music that has a bit of a younger sound to it, both from a production standpoint, and from the singer's voice itself. Lauren Bea breathes vibrant life into a genre that can sometimes get stuck in a creative rut. It's exciting to know that more music is coming.
