Captured Again | Posted May-24-2012
The production values on this release are more simplistic than Dan's later albums, but I was pleasantly surprised by how the excellent songwriting on some of the tracks really overcame any shortcomings on the production side. "Open Sky" was an instantly likeable track and had me wanting it to go on. "Amazing" was also very enjoyable and well crafted. Overall this album has a very slow and worshipful feel, which is fine, but after awhile the songs started to kind of run together and it felt like the presentation could have been stronger if the tempos were changed up a little more.

The Listening EP | Posted May-24-2012
A short EP of works from Dan featuring 3 songs in total with the 4th track being a radio edit. I honestly didn't feel that any of the songs on this release really grabbed me or made me want to re-listen to them. The lyrics were worshipful and Christ focused, but I just honestly didn't care for the arrangements overall.

For You From You | Posted May-24-2012
This release is very worshipful throughout and entirely focused on God and our response to and wonder of Him. Dan has a unique voice that is pleasant to listen to, and the lyrics for this album are very beautiful. Overall I really didn't feel the arrangements on the first half of the album really grabbed me though and the vocals could have used with a little more variety in their delivery as they seemed a little simplistic and repetitive at times. Suddenly I came to "Breathe in Me" and thought it was pretty good as it seemed to have the most depth in vocal delivery and actually felt like it took some risk and conjoured some emotion. The sweeping background music for this track was also very good and helped create an enjoyable song. The subsequent tracks on the album after "Breathe in Me" were actually enjoyable. A difficult album to review. The lyrics were amazing, the first half of the album was a little boring, but the 2nd half seemed to come alive in many ways.

Go Get It | Posted May-24-2012
After listening to this album, I realized it is essentially composed of songs Mary Mary has previous released but the versions here appear to have a different mix. The first part of the album left me a little flat and I was concerned that the whole album was going to be a dud, but after listening farther, I was pleasantly surprised at the catchiness of many of the songs and really enjoyed it. I think this release is definitely worth a listen for anyone who enjoys music in this genre.

Hanging On By A Remix | Posted May-23-2012
While thankful to be able to listen to this album by 'The Letter Black' this week for free on NRT, I must admit that I really didn't care for any of it. I have heard the "Fire with Fire" song on Christian rock radio and did enjoy it quite a bit, and I'm familiar with the Aerosmith track " Dream On". After listening to this album in it's entirety though, I can honestly say I really didn't care for the way any of the remixes were done on this album. I kept waiting for at least one stand out track that would grab my attention, but it just never came. I'm not sure what most of the original songs sound like, but feel this remix album needed to go back to the drawing board. Maybe I will be in the minority and many will enjoy it, but this wouldn't be something I would recommend unfortunately.

Live In Paris | Posted May-19-2012
As a longtime fan of the band...especially their ealry works that are now no longer in print, I was really excited when I saw the track listings for this album. It's great to hear the band performing live and many of the tracks brought back special memories from 20 years ago. Sadly some of the tracks seemed a little on the weak side vocally, at least in comparison to the original studio versions. Some of this could be due to what can be done in studios with multiple takes etc...but some of the tracks just seemed to fall a little flat at points. I was able to pick this album up at a very discounted price so will probably keep it, but wouldn't put it at the top of my recommendation list for the band's works overall. My favorite albums by the band are probably "Sweet Fellowship" and "Better Than Life" although they have many good albums.

A good solid worship album from Harvest Worship. Overall this release is a little on the short side, but has a consistent and worshipful presence throughout. The songs are well done and have a surreal mellow atmosphere that truly ushers in a time of quiet contemplation. I didn't have a particular song that stood out, but felt instead that the whole album was good.

Get You Some | Posted May-11-2012
A solid Christ-focused album through and through with a full 14 tracks presented. This release seems very consistent with 737's second release in it's sound, presentation and quality of music. It's great to hear theological subjects presented in a rap format. I know my teenage daughters have often started rapping something from other Christian rap artists when we are doing a bible study and I'm always thankful for the ministry arists like 737 have in the lives of young people. Music like this have the potential to reach and minister to many.

A strong Christ-focused rap album from 737 that not only focuses on many of the struggles we all face, but also reaches into theological areas as well. I am admittedly not a huge fan of rap music, but am thankful for 737's ministry and think my teenage children would enjoy listening to this album.

This release by Lara instantly struck me as being a little more rock oriented than the other releases I was familiar with. Lara's voice is beautiful as always, and lyrically the album has quite a bit of depth. I'm not sure the history behind this release, so assuming it may have been an introductory EP when she was starting out as an artist. I think it has some merits, but is also missing much of the rich breadth that Lara's later releases would showcase.
