After less than 1 year of waiting, I'm sure everyone was thinking "No way that's going to be a good album" I know I was. Well, now we look like idiots. Suffice it to say, it is marginally better than "Invincible" (Thank God)

As the album opens with Alien Youth, you can tell exactly where the album is going with lyrics like "World Wide Jesus Domination, Love Conquers All".

The Next song, Vapor, is reminiscent of their previous album, but not as....bad.(I hated Invincible). It does get pretty repetitive in the chorus, though.

Earth Invasion is easily one of the best songs on the album. It talks of Gods plan to save us, but how we are all resisting...however these are very cryptic, ambiguous lyrics, that can be misinterpreted.

The next song, You Are My Hope, is the first ballad on the album, and is nicely executed. Not much more to say.

As the ballad fades and gives way to Eating Me Away, you can tell that the middle of this album is more than just the Power Ballads and Pop-Rock songs that have plagued the radio as of late. It talks of how anger can change a person, and make them into something they do not want to be.

As Eating Me Away fades....wait a second, it doesn't fade at all. It transitions perfectly into Kill Me, Heal Me. This hard rocker is simply amazing, and cries out to God asking for repairment, with lyrics like "Pick up the cross, cuz it's killing me".

The Thirst is Taking Over is a creepy song to say the least. It talks of being possessed (Hold me down, drip it on my tongue, and my convulsion stops), and how Jesus is the only hope for the world(I'm in urgent need, you know the thirst is taking over). It is slow at first, repetitive in the middle, and harder and louder in the end.

One Real Thing was written and composed completely by Korey. It is a decent ballad, but does not show Skillet's true potential with these kind of songs.

Stronger is a bit repetitive, but the lyrics are straightforward (I'm stronger, yeah, than the devil, yeah).

Rippin' Me Off is a bit more repetitive, but with weird sounds in the beginning. It talks of how, by saying God and Jesus aren't real, your ripping us off from our eternal life.

Will You Be There?(Falling Down) is the best ballad I've heard in years, this truly shows Skillet's potential for hard rockers and slow songs. I actually Regard this song as one of my favorites.

Come my way is a bad choice for a closer, especially after Will You Be There?. It is slow, and not as good.

Comatose blows away any previous album | Posted July-25-2008
After a 3 year break since their last full release, even the panheadz were saying "this had better be worth it" They got their wish.

A strong opening with Rebirthing, the first single from the CD, you could tell this was going to be a wild ride. With an amazing synth at the beginning, you could tell this was different than any of their previous sound. It was not Grunge or Hard rock. It was definitely not electronica. It was new. New is good.

As Rebirthing fades into The Last Night, you can tell Cooper's style hasn't changed. He still offers Christian solutions to common problems, while still relating to the listener.

After The Last Night, the album has its first Ballad(which, in a live show, Cooper joked that they put on the album "Just so chicks would buy our record"), entitled Yours to Hold. I'm not a fan of Ballads, and I don't really like either on this album(though I have higher expectations of Skillet, because of songs like "Will You Be There", and "Under My Skin"). Not much else to say

Better than Drugs. Lyrically, a very risky song...but risk big, win big, right? Right. This song quickly became one of my favorites on the album, and actually feels like it could fit on Collide, while still not feeling out of place here. Musically, the intro is the best part. It goes downhill from there.

The next song is my personal favorite by Skillet...period. Comatose. The song sounds great, and talks of how life is a Comatose without God. Wow, for being my favorite, there's not a lot to say...I guess that's because I don't have to outline cons about the song.

The next 2 songs sound almost identical in the beginning. Older I Get and Those Nights. 2 "power ballads" that are somehow becoming trends in the music industry. I like Those Nights more.

The next song is another 5/5, Falling Inside the Black. Following the same Formula as Rebirthing and Comatose, but doing it differently. I love the intro to it.

The next song is a mediocre ballad...and I KNOW Skillet can do better. They HAVE done better with ballads. That's all I'm saying

The next song is another amazing song: Whispers in the dark. All I can say is read comatose and falling inside the black.

The album closer is...strange. it's not really a song. I like it, but I'm sure there are people that are like "That's so Stupid!" and press stop after Whispers. It's good subject matters, and kids, if you ever have to memorize poetry for class, I recommend this song, entitled Looking for Angels

Best of....What? | Posted July-23-2008
I like Falling Up. Captiva is one of the few albums I'd rate above a 4. But honestly, after only 3 albums and a remix, what is BEC Records thinking, doing a "Best Of" already. Creed Didn't get one for over 10 years. Skillet has been around for 12, and doesn't have one. Heck, there are tons of bands like David Crowder and Third Day that could do one that haven't.

As a fan of Falling Up, I have to say it does include most of their best songs, and it will be a very enjoyable album, which is why it got more than 2 stars. I like every single one of the songs on the album, and There are only a few more I would have liked to see make the cut.

However, as a Fan of Falling Up, I have to say that I would have preferred new music over this, for at least another couple of years. Most "Best Ofs" have at least 30 songs and 2 discs, but this one is cut in half, more proof that it is premature.

I know, I rated it a three, but if I ignore the fact that the album has come far to early, I'd give it a 3.5 or a 4.
