I would say this book is a must read, however, it's probably not for everyone. If you like your faith comfortable, easy, complacent, and basically unchallenging, then don't bother. However,...

ONE OF MY FAVORITES EVER!!! | Posted August-27-2013
This book by Piper is one of my personal favorites and is definitely one of my top 10 books I have read, and possibly top 5. It's so easy this day and age to believe that everything God does is about us instead of being about him. In this book Piper reminds us that the greatest gift God gives and the one Christ died for us to have is the gift of Himself. This book has probably the most convicting single chapter I have ever read in any book outside of the Bible. Yet once again Piper manages to take communicate sound theological truth in a well reasoned manner with a simplicity that is easily accessible to most readers. Highly Recommend!!!
ANOTHER GREAT BOOK FROM THIS AUTHOR | Posted August-27-2013
This is the follow up to Desiring God and goes into more detail about the idea of finding pleasure in God. He further expounds upon the idea that "God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him." He also answers some objections to his ideas from the first book. This book also was voted one of the 100 best Christian books of the 20th century by Christianity Today.
HIS BEST BOOK TO DATE | Posted August-27-2013
This is by far the best book Tenney has written. It is a follow up to his book Godchasers and overall is a far better book than the first in the series (this is book 2 of a trilogy including, Godchasers, God's favorite House, and Godcatchers) of books. The book is about creating an atmosphere in our lives, homes, and churches where God's presence, His glory, can abide and not just show up from time to time. Once again an easy read, not too deep for the average reader. I only give the same warning that depending on your theology there may be points you disagree with, but the overall content of the book is fabulous and well worth the time to read.
LIFECHANGING | Posted August-27-2013
This is the book that really changed my walk with God. Depending on your theological perspective you may or may not agree with everything he says, but the primary point is that we should be constantly pursuing the heart of God just as he is constantly pursuing us. It is a good starting point. Good explanation, easy read, and not to in depth for the average reader. On this particular subject the only book I've read that is equal or better is "The Pursuit of God" by AW Tozer. I would highly recommend reading both, but would start with this one.
One of the Best Books I have ever Read | Posted August-27-2013
When Christianity Today did a list of the top 100 books of the 20th century this was one of two by this author and for good reason. This is definitely in my top 10 of best books I've ever read. I read pretty much anything John Piper writes because I have yet to read any of his books that weren't well worth the time and money. This is the crown jewel if you will of John Piper's writings. In it you he starts with the premise that "God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him." Then he explains how that relates to and expresses itself in life. Piper combines deep theological thought with practical application in a style that is easy to read. This book is not fluff!! That said, it is also very easy to read. Highly recommended for the thinking Christian.
Convicting!!!! | Posted August-27-2013
I would say this book is a must read, however, it's probably not for everyone. If you like your faith comfortable, easy, complacent, and basically unchallenging, then don't bother. However, if you've always thought there has to be more to the Christian life or if your truly passionate about following Christ with all of your heart then this book will give you a good place to start. It's convicting, challenging, but beneficial. All in all it's good spiritual medicine. I highly recommend!
