Matt Beckingham is a Christian artist whose music expresses hope, challenge & joy, through melodic pop-rock tunes, & broad sweeps of colour.
Based in South Yorkshire, UK, Matt has spent most of his musical life with his back to the audience as a conductor, but lockdown brought about a change in direction, with him turning to lead an online audience in worship, and stepping out with his own music.
Prior to lockdown, Matt filled his days as a music director, leading everything from education programmes in schools to playing arena shows, theatres, concert halls & studio sessions. From chorus mastering choirs at the BBC Proms to playing mainstage at Christian festivals, and from conducting symphony orchestras to leading urban bucket drumming sessions in social action programmes; Matt has been involved in a kaleidoscope of musical genre, style, & expression. Over lockdown Matt established the National Methodist Choir of Great Britain, which has engaged with nearly 1700 singers, from across 5 Continents. His arrangements have been played by London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, Rundfunkchor Berlin, & Royal Northern Sinfonia among others. Matt is a worship leader in the Methodist Church, and is passionate about seeing the church not only being ‘born in song’, but living in song, too.
Now, through his own music, Matt seeks to bring the depth and breadth of this musical palette into simple songs, with big dreams.
Matt’s debut single, ‘Look up’ is released on 4th April 2021.
