Born from the heavy music scene of Richmond, VA, Defying Death is a fusion of various kinds
of metal sub-genres that creates a sound different from your normal metalcore band. Most of
the members in Defying Death have a background of playing in worship band and have a
specific love for the ambient influence and theatrical chorus styles that come with it. Living in a
very local music driven area we decided we were tired of standing around instead of using this
passion for the music scene we hold so close. We want to use the music we love to create as a
platform to talk about subjects and struggles people are going through everyday as well as use
our personal faith as a means to deliver these lyrics. But make no mistake, we are not afraid to
get crazy on stage and break some stuff.

About the upcoming new EP Blinded by Sorrow: 
"Blinded by Sorrow as a whole is about the trauma and struggles of life that take our focus off of
the most important things in our lives and the people we love, more specifically to us, our walk
with Jesus and how the chaos in this world will deter us from him. This EP touches on subjects
from suicide, depression and mental health to other subjects like social injustice, and the
hypocrisy within the modern church. We want this EP to resonate with everybody and speak to
them personally, however so they choose to interpret it. Our hope is that this record brings
some sort of peace or clarity to their lives."
