At age 19, Christian Hip-Hop Recording Artist DaeShawn Forrest was added to the roster and record label
Christian Music In The Spotlight. From Antioch, California,
DaeShawn Forrest is constantly being taught that living a life for God is truly a
lifelong process. Daily, DaeShawn tries to operate with a plan that includes moral principles. However, like many of us during our younger days, DaeShawn is also reminded that life is not just about worldly principles It’s all about sacrifice and Jesus Christ. Through his debut album “
State of Mind” DaeShawn recorded a collection of music that describes his thoughts and where his state of mind is with Jesus Christ! The album content and melodies are shockingly mature for a 19-year-old and attract diverse age groups. For the youth it has a trap sound with pure gospel truth. For the middle age it has a contemporary, jazzy, urban melody that set the mood for deep thinking. We had the album reviewed by Music Producer and C.E.O. of D.E.M. Beats Production and received the following critique.

ALBUM REVIEW
What You Need To Know:
The Album “
State Of Mind” by Christian Rap Artist DaeShawn Forrest is fresh and very relevant for today. DaeShawn delivers the style of music which has all the elements that most young folks are listening to at present. Besides the catchy melodic rhythm patterns that trap artist use, he delivers a powerful message. The saying “you can’t judge a book by its cover”, stands to be a true saying especially when you listen to how well-crafted the lyrics are. DaeShawn Forrest is a young man who raps and sings about things well beyond his years with wisdom.
What it Sounds Like:
Although this album has the sound of today’s youth, I would have liked to hear more live drum sounds. Musically it mostly consists of a trap style with the 808 bass and hi-hat rolls mixed in with keyboard synthesizer. In my opinion, the meat and potatoes in this CD project are in the lyrics. Each song delivers a unique message tailored to the titles of each track. There is something that everyone can relate to no matter whether you are a Christian or not.
Best Song on the Album:
I have to say “Fall back, Get Put On, and Kill The Noise” are my favorite songs because they had me thinking about my life. The content in the lyrics described parts of my history that are my cognitive landmarks in my mind. I believe it will gain the attention of others if not today’s youth because DaeShawn challenge listeners to strive and live more positively in a fallen world.
Final Word:
As I finish listening to this wonderful album by DaeShawn Forrest, I am already anticipating hearing what the future projects await us. I can say with confidence that if he continues to maintain his style of creativity, we are in for more treats.
