The group Prafitz originated in the city of Harrisburg, PA in 1993 with the initial name of Phat Skillz (Under the roof of their grandmother for the summer), Phat Skillz returned home to Rochester, NY with 2 members; Mr. Dynamite later named Double-C and Skillz later named J-Wonda. Double-C and J-Wonda are biological brothers.

Not long after returning home Phat Skillz adopted the name Prafitz (Prophets) because they believed God had called them to minister through Hip-Hop music. Double-C and J-Wonda entered many talent shows and contests in the upstate NY area.

In 1995 Prafitz entered the studio for the 1st time. A four song demo was accomplished which included the songs, “What’s the Definition?”, “Keep On”, “Essence of Lust” and “So You wanna go to Hell?” This demo was sent to many record labels and music industry affiliates. Mostly all the demos were returned. A few listened to the demo and liked it, but requested that Prafitz send a better quality demo to them in the future. Needless to say Prafitz were disappointed, but this did not stop them from performing and recording more music. They continued to write and produce tracks.

In 1996 Prafitz recorded “Verbal Spill” and performed this song in front of thousands at the “Youth Day” event in downtown Rochester, NY. Prafitz took 3rd prize in that event for their age group. Though they only received 3rd place they were not beat out by any other Hip-Hop groups.(Dancers took 1st Place and singers took 2nd place.)

During the year of 1997, Prafitz added another member to the group; Majestic. Majestic who was born in Barbados and later moved to the states added a reggae flavor to the duo. Prafitz recorded and released a single entitled “Thresholds of Expression” in 1997. This song received a lot of airplay on the Chris G “Straight From The Underground” Hip Hop show, which was on college radio 89.7 WITR. In this same year on the same show, Prafitz did an interview and freestyle on 89.7 WITR. A new demo was in the process of being recorded in 97’ as well, but it was never finished or sent out.

In 1998, another member was added to Prafitz, Versifier. Versifier was a poet, he did not write or rap any songs, but he did contribute 3 poems to Prafitz 1st recorded album “The 1st Prophecy”. The 1st Prophecy was never released, but in 1999 Prafitz released an album entitled “Nazarene Movements”. Nazarene Movements contained 75% of the original material recorded on “The 1st Prophecy” plus some other tunes.

By the year 2000 Majestic had left Prafitz and Versifier decided to pursue other opportunities. Prafitz, which now contained just Josiah (Double-C changed his name at the end of 2000) and In’telleckt (J-Wonda changed his name again in early 98’) continued to do shows in the upstate NY area. On December 9th, 2000 Prafitz opened up for the group Winans Phase-2 at New Life Fellowship Church in Rochester, NY. This was also the release date for their new single “Rumble in the Roc”.

Rumble in the Roc was received well and obtained a lot of air play in the upstate, NY area.
The album for the single Rumble in the Roc wasn't released until July of 2002. When this album was finally released it was discontinued due to improper promotion.

In 2018, In Celebration of the anniversary of their first recorded album, Prafit Josiah and In’telleckt of the PRAFITZ have decided to Release “The 1st Prophecy” in all digital Outlets AND release a brand New Project which partially includes some unreleased and never before heard material entitled, “Nazarene Movements 2.0”

Prafitz the group disbanded in 2002. Josiah of the Prafitz is now solo and continues to perform and record under the name Prafit Josiah. In’telleckt performs as a solo artist as well under the name X-Amount.
