The music that Jokia writes and sings is true, genuine worship music. When people hear her music, they instantly feel the intense joy of worship that she felt throughout her faith. Believing every word with all of her heart, it's hard not to walk away from a Jokia song without feeling the love and grace of Jesus Christ.
Jokie has brought a fresh new sound to Christian Contemporary Music (CCM) today. In a relatively short amount of time, she has invited listeners to engage in worship in a way that few other artists can. She has a gift for singing and songwriting, and is determined to share it with as many people as possible.
Born and raised in California, Jokia fell in love with music at the mere age of 12. Always in tune with music and its performance, she knew it was her undoubted calling as she began to sing and write songs. Presently 28-years old today, Jokia sits atop a musical career that is a testament to her musical passions and tenacious drive for making it all a reality.
Jokia attended high school in San Diego, California after moving from Compton at a young age. Upon graduation, she went into the Army and served rom 2006 to 2010. Whilst in the Army, Jokia gave her life to Christ. She also joined the Army Soldier show, toured the country and Europe for 8-months, and ordered herself a guitar.
After leaving the Army, Jokia attended her church at Shiloh Worship Center in Belton, Texas and played acoustic guitar for the parish. Her performance abilities began to garner her attention and during this time, Jokia had the honor of sharing the stage with the likes of Tasha Cobbs, Jessica Reedy, Casey J, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Brianna "Bri" Babinauex, and Willie Moore Jr.
Jokia's music is produced by Tedy P, the same producer behind Kierra Sheard and many other major Christian recording artists in the game today.
She released her very first single, Amen, May 2016 and has recently finished recording her first EP, to be released June 12, 2017.
Today, she is currently played on multiple Christian radio stations across the country and is charted at Top 100 on the BDS 500 charts. Her chart ranking continues to increase each week.
Jokia has stated that her music ministry goals are to be known as a worshipper. She wants her music to set listener's free by the grace of Jesus.
Jokia is a mother of two today, after marrying her husband, also a man of God, whom she met while serving in Iraq. Additionally, Jokia went on to receive her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at Texas A&M Central Texas College following deployment, and is now enrolled at Letourneau University for obtaining her Master's Degree in Counseling.
