Daylight began playing together in March of 2009, after Jeremy King (lead singer) finished recording an album with Jonathan Velasquez (Electric guitarist) titled “A Better Way”. With a vision inspired by this album, Daylight came together and spent three months traveling around the lower mainland visiting Christian schools, churches and youth groups, encouraging students to walk the better way in Christ. In April they went on a two-week tour throughout B.C. and Alberta making stops in Prince George, Edmonton, Red Deer and Calgary. Upon seeing God’s hand at work through their music they decided to record their first C.D. as a band in July of 2009. This seven track E.P. titled “Behold The King” was completed in October, 2009. Most recently Daylight’s song, “At The Name of Jesus” was nominated in the Gospel Music Awards for best new Scripture based song (A new award sponsored by the Canadian Bible Society.)
In 1 Thessalonians 5:5 it says; For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness. (ESV)
We have a passion to see young people throw off the things of darkness and shine with the light of Christ. Our hearts longing is to see people awakened to the reality that Jesus is the King! As a band we know that Christ is calling His own people to a life of radical obedience in which we have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness but instead shine like stars in a crooked and depraved generation.
More than anything we’re learning that when people get their eyes off themselves and onto Jesus they are changed.
As it says in Psalms:
“Fear the Lord you His saints, for those who fear Him lack nothing” Psalm 34:9 (NIV)
