Based in Lakeland, SEU Worship is the worship expression from Florida Southeastern University. Since releasing their first project independently in 2013, SEU Worship has gone on to release nearly 20 projects, now filled with anthems of worship and praise honestly and genuinely. I've loved SEU Worship for years with their fun style and deep, honest writing that hits powerfully. I'm excited to share a few of my favorite essential picks from one of my favorite groups.
"Monday Morning Faith"
The group's biggest song yet, "Monday Morning Faith, is one of the most raw, beautiful songs I've ever heard. It's an honest prayer of love to Jesus and wanting our lives to reflect Him personally. It's easy to get our faith caught up in "Church culture" and Sunday mornings instead of what following God looks like. This song has resonated and impacted millions with a heartfelt cry to let our worship and surrender to Him be an everyday love that shouts He is holy and worth everything daily.
"FREE!"
SEU Worship has always been known to have energetic songs of praise. I love these songs and how they continue to have powerful messages right from the Word. "Free" is an anthem of praise for the freedom that God has given us. It's bold, it's firm, and it's a pure joy-bomb that encourages everyone to give unashamed praise for what Jesus has done. The bridge especially is a highlight with lyrics that say: "Fear, shame, depression's gotta go, I'm living with the power of the Holy Ghost!"
"What A God"
"What A God" is a song of sincere worship and gratitude to God for all He's done. This song has brought me to tears, but also to joy. We sometimes get caught up trying to look perfect and play the part that we think God needs us to be in. Yet, God wants our hearts, our honesty, and our choice to love Him wherever we are. We're never too far, and He's always there to embrace us. To those who don't know Him, His love and grace don't make sense. That's the God we have, and He is truly everything. Even a glimpse of this love is more than enough to satisfy our hearts.
"Deep Dive"
This song is so special to me and one of my favorite worship songs I've ever heard. "Deep Dive" is a cry to know God beyond a surface level relationship and to see Him for who He truly is. It's a prayer and a call to take that step to know His heart without restraint. When I first heard this song when it came out, I sobbed on the floor, asking God to show me who He is at any cost. He's right there always waiting to dive with us into the depths of His heart. He's just waiting for our surrender and choice to run after Him and leave the things of this world behind to know Jesus deeper.
"Fruit Takes Time"
The first song off their newly released album, A Forgiving God, is a beautiful, acoustic-led song of knowing His plans and ways are better than ours. Sometimes He speaks differently than we expect. Sometimes He uses us to be the answer to what we're praying and asking Him to do. Looking like Him takes time and growth. I know I'm not perfect, but I hope my prayer is always, as the lyrics put, "Break my heart if that's what it takes, find me faithful, good fruit takes time to grow, mold me, shape me, change me daily, find me faithful."
"After Your Heart"
This one may be a curveball choice to include, but for me, it was a must-add. SEU Worship, in their older work especially, have been known to release songs of worship with a pop edge. In 2020 and 2021, they released Clouds Are Clearing Mixtape1A & 2B, filled with powerful songs of worship, praise, and energy in a new way that fans loved. These projects contain collaborations with KB, Hollyn, Elevation Rhythm, Marty, and this one with Elle Limebear. "After Your Heart" is a fun summer anthem of believing in revival and chasing after Jesus alone. Both these albums are amazing and some of my favorite projects that fans of SEU's deep worship cuts will also enjoy.
