Easter is a time for reflection, gratitude, and celebration of the hope we find in Jesus’ resurrection. One of the most powerful ways to connect with the message of Easter is through music. Whether it’s a stirring ballad about the cross, a soaring anthem of Christ’s victory over the grave, or a tender reminder of God’s love, Easter songs have a unique way of touching hearts and renewing faith. We asked our staff to share some of their favorite Easter-themed songs—tracks that have helped them draw closer to the heart of Christ during this sacred season. Here’s what they had to say.
Steve Bridgmon - "He Remembered"
Inspirational country artist Steve Bridgmon paints a beautiful picture of what Jesus willingly endured for us in his song "He Remembered." The lyrics take listeners on a journey from Jesus's moments in the garden of Gethsemane to the pain He faced leading up to and at the cross. "When He hung on that cross about to die, I know I was on His mind." Steve connects the biblical message of the song to Jesus meeting us exactly where we are in life. Jesus understood what it would require to reconcile us to God, yet He still chose to embrace the pain and suffering of the cross. He paid the price in full and declared that we were worth it. -Janice Henriquez
Newsboys - "Amazing Love"
Choosing just one song to reflect on Easter and the significance of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection is challenging. I also tend to be “old school” regarding Easter songs. These tracks have always been my favorites for the Holy Day, each holding its special place and meaning. In no order, they are "Amazing Love" by Newsboys, “Via Dolorosa” by Sandi Patty, and “He’s Alive” by Don Francisco. - Tommy G
Cody Carnes – “The Cross Has the Final Word”
“The Cross Has the Final Word” from Cody Carnes is a message of salvation that moves me to reflect on how much Jesus endured for His bride to redeem us from the grave. You can choose to acknowledge that you are a sinner, believe that Jesus is the son of God who came to die as a sinless savior on our behalf, and decide to make Him the Lord of your life. It's about submitting ourselves to Him and His goodness and allowing His blood to cover us and flow through our veins.
This is a fantastic song to sing in preparation for Easter. Seven hundred years before Jesus came to earth and opened the way to heaven, the prophecy was foretold in Isaiah. Christ fulfilled this prophecy on the cross, and He promises in His Word that one day, He will make "all things new.”
The song’s message challenges listeners to reflect on our doubts and how Jesus calls us to rely on Him and the power of His resurrection, reminding us that He has overcome death and fear.
"The Cross Has the Final Word" is an emotive and poetic description of what Jesus did for us. You'll want to join fellow believers in singing these words: "The cross has the final word. He traded death for eternal life. The cross has the final word."
No matter where you are in your walk with Jesus, this song carries a salvation message that helps you remember that Jesus truly came to die and rose to set you free.
Be courageous to sing along: "There's nothing stronger, nothing higher, nothing greater than the Name of Jesus. All the honor, all the power, and all glory to the name of Jesus." - Kevin Davis
Michael W. Smith – “In Christ Alone”
"In Christ Alone" is one of those songs that many artists have covered. When selecting an Easter song, "In Christ Alone" was the first that came to my mind, but I struggled to decide which version to share with someone who had never heard the song. After some research, I heard Michael W. Smith's rendition for the first time. The power of the choir singing with him and the variety of instruments convey the song's emotion. I love how the song builds to some of its most potent lyrics: "There in the ground His body lay/Light of the world by darkness slain/Then bursting forth in glorious day/Up from the grave He rose again."
