This week, we are launching a new series here at NewReleaseToday called Couples Corner, with hosts Janice Rigal and husband Danny. They love getting to know couples behind Christian music and their first conversation is with Caleb and Kelsea Yetton, longtime members of The Rock Music, a collective of spirit-led, Christ-centered worshipers from The Rock Church in Salt Lake City. Their latest project, No One Knows Me Like You, is a five-song EP showcasing their heart for ministry and authenticity.
You can watch and listen to the entire conversation in the video below or read on for a highlighted version, and click here to watch more conversations in this series.
Can you start by sharing a little bit about yourselves?
Caleb Yetton: Sure! We're based in Salt Lake City, Utah, where The Rock Church is our home and ministry. I serve as a pastor, and we've been married for 15 years. We have four kids--ages 12, 10, 8, and 6–so life is busy! Kelsea homeschools them while I focus on pastoring and leading in our church's music ministry.
What advice would you give to newlyweds?
Caleb: First and foremost, prioritize your personal connection with the Lord. Spend time in His Word and in prayer because marriage requires a lot of selflessness. Kelsea and I both have strong personalities and early on, we struggled with stubbornness and learning to serve one another. Dying to yourself daily and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide you is crucial.
Kelsea: Communication is also key. Over-communicate your plans, emotions, and expectations--especially the unspoken ones. We had to learn that early on because when you don't communicate clearly, it's hard for your spouse to meet expectations they don't even know exist!
Can you share your love story?
Caleb: I actually knew of Kelsea before she knew of me. She was leading worship at a youth service, and I remember thinking, I want to marry a girl like that one day. Later, I ended up attending The Rock Church and met her at a young adults' event.
Kelsea: The first time I saw Caleb, I thought he was wearing all white--shirt, shorts, shoes, hat--and I remember thinking, Why is he wearing all white? But something about him stood out, and I felt an immediate connection.
Caleb: She made the first move! She used to send Bible verses to friends and asked for my number so she could include me. We became close but took our time before officially dating, as we were both growing in our faith. Eventually, we started dating, got engaged, and have now been married for 15 years.
Caleb, how did you propose?
Caleb: It was a whole process! I planned a progressive dinner, with different parts of the meal at significant places from our relationship. One of those spots overlooked Salt Lake City, where we'd had deep conversations. It was all set up for the proposal... but I didn't propose there! Instead, I waited until we got back to a park where we had talked about getting married. That's where I finally asked her, and thankfully, she said yes!
What are some unique challenges you face as a couple in the Christian music industry?
Caleb: Our focus has always been ministry first, so balancing family, church, and music can be challenging. Kelsea homeschools our kids, which means she's not as involved musically as she was before we had kids. We have to be intentional about scheduling time to record and write while prioritizing our family.
Kelsea: Sometimes I want to be more involved, but it's not always realistic. We have to be okay with the fact that in different seasons, ministry looks different.
Can you share a particularly meaningful project you've worked on together?
Caleb: Our latest EP, No One Knows Me Like You, has been very personal. Some of the songs were written years ago, including one Kelsea wrote before we even met. There's also a song we wrote together early in our marriage. The title track is about struggling with insecurity and knowing that God understands us fully–our doubts, fears, and failures--and still loves us completely.
Kelsea: This project has also been woven with grief and healing, as my mom passed away last year from cancer. That experience has shaped our music in ways we didn't expect.
How can people find your music and connect with you?
Caleb: You can find us under The Rock Music on social media–Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube. Our website is therockmusic.org, where you can stream our music. You can also search for Caleb Yetton or Kelsea Yetton on streaming platforms.
