With their first album in five years releasing on February 14, 2025, let's take a look at some of the essential Sidewalk Prophets songs to add to your playlist. If you're new to their music, this will give you a taste of their sound and message. If you're a longtime fan, here's a few of their essential songs to listen to again as we await the release of Looking Up.
"You Love Me Anyway"
This song is from their 2009 debut album These Simple Truths. It's a powerful reminder about how God still loves us even though we sin and doubt. Our sinful nature is ultimately the reason Jesus died on the cross. How incredible it is to have a Savior who loves us even when we fail Him. Although we strive to live like Christ, there will be times that we mess up, but He loves us anyway.
"Live Like That"
What do you hope people will say about you once you've traded this earth for your heavenly home? Sometimes, our words don't align with God's word. "Live Like That" is about living for others to see God through us. The hope is that others see that we are different from the world when they see the love of God in us.
"To Live is Christ"
Echoing Paul's words in Philippians 1:21, "To Live is Christ" is about living for Christ and allowing ourselves to mirror God's love for others to see while we are on earth. Once our time on earth has come to an end, we will receive the "gain" Paul refers to: an everlasting home in heaven with our Savior.
"Prodigal"
No matter what you've done, no matter how far you've strayed, God's arms are open wide welcoming you back like the prodigal son in Luke 15:11-32. God's love is unconditional, and He desires for those who have gone astray to come back into his loving arms. Just like the father in the parable was overjoyed to have his son back, out Father is overjoyed when His children come back to Him.
"I Believe it Now"
When we go through trials and hard times, it can feel like God is far from us. In the middle of the storms of life, we may not see what God is doing. But when we look back, we see that God had His hand in every detail.
"Father, Let it Be"
This is one of the six songs that have already been released from Looking Up. It's about desiring to understand God's plans for our lives. It's a call to pray for God's will to be done even when His plans are not what we would have chosen for ourselves.
