Stars Go Dim - Roses
Originally a side project for members of the Christian hard rock band Pillar, Stars Go Dim has evolved into a solo endeavor by Chris Cleveland. Ironically, Cleveland is the only member of Stars Go Dim who is not part of Pillar. Still, he remains the sole force keeping the name alive. Initially conceived as a pop/rock band in the style of Switchfoot, it gradually became more of a pure pop project.
Despite initial touring success with some big names in the industry, the band received a significant break ten years ago when they signed with Fervent Records and released their self-titled project. Since then, Cleveland has put out multiple projects. Just before the New Year, he unveiled a new single, "Mama Don't Lie (Alright)," the lead track from his upcoming full-length album, Roses, due for release at the end of July.
"Mama Don't Lie (Alright)" explores Cleveland's experimental pop sound with a catchy beat. His personal story is uplifting, and his delivery conveys deep emotion in his tracks, whether heartfelt ballads or upbeat pop hits. Stay tuned to hear what Roses will sound like when it is released later this year. - JJ Francesco
Rachel DeLong – Heir EP
Independent Christian artist Rachel DeLong’s debut EP "Heir" is scheduled for release in the first half of this year. It will feature her previously released track "That’s Who He Is," the newly launched "Clarity," and 2 additional songs followed by 4 acoustic renditions. This collection will showcase Rachel’s energy, vocal talent, and sharp songwriting skills. Thanks to the contributions of long-time industry experts, the album will have a polished, professional sound.
The EP features heartfelt lyrics from Rachel that delve into self-image, the journey of discovering one's identity in Christ, and empowering themes that inspire overcoming peer pressure, negativity, and the devil's deceit. Although some themes in Rachel’s album may seem heavy, her songs are undeniably fun, energetic, catchy, and sometimes powerful. The album also offers insight into Rachel’s growth as a young woman and Christian. This is just the first of what I’m sure will be many songs and albums from Rachel, and I can’t wait for everyone to experience the depth and range of her voice and music. - Tommy G
TobyMac - Heaven On My Mind
After releasing five new songs in recent months, we anticipated that a new album from TobyMac would be on the way. His upcoming album, Heaven On My Mind, is scheduled to release on March 7, 2025, and will include the previously released tracks “Rearview,” “God Did It,” “a Lil Church (nobody’s too lost),” and “Nothin’ Sweeter," along with eight additional songs.
TobyMac is renowned for his catchy pop hooks, like those in “Nothin’ Sweeter,” but he has also revealed a more vulnerable side in his music with the release of his 2022 album, Life After Death. This album came out nearly three years after the death of his 21-year-old son, Truett. The songs “21 Years” and “Everything About You” were inspired by his son's loss.
Even after experiencing a devastating loss, TobyMac continues to focus on his faith and uses music as an outlet for his pain. Many people have faced similar losses, and his music reminds them that grief and joy can coexist, and that God loves them unconditionally and is close to them through every trial in life. - Felicia Holt
Brian Elder - "Wouldn’t Be Me And You"
Worship leader Brian Elder’s upcoming release, "Wouldn’t Be Me And You," captures a deeply personal chapter in his life. Married in his 40s, Brian and his wife faced significant challenges early in their marriage, including a new baby and the strain of living with her parents while both worked multiple jobs to make ends meet. Brian had recently left a stable job to pursue a calling in the entertainment industry, a choice that added financial uncertainty to their lives.
The song captures the fears and anxieties they experienced during this difficult period, yet it also highlights their gratitude for each other and the faith that carried them through. In the chorus, Brian expresses his appreciation for his wife, acknowledging that while she could have had a different life with someone else, he is grateful their paths led them to one another. The song serves as a reminder that no matter how tough life may seem, focusing on their blessings and trusting in God can help navigate even the most challenging times. - Janice Henriquez
Ryan Ellis - Real Love
Following his self-titled release in 2022, contemporary worship artist Ryan Ellis is stepping back to the plate with his sophomore album, Real Love. The album is filled with songs of hope, unity, and discovering what real love means in Jesus. Building on the success of his hit songs "Heart of The Father" and "Gonna Be Alright," this project features several new tracks that are sure to become fan favorites, including the emotional "Real Love," the contemplative "Satisfied," and the upbeat, vibe-filled track "Eva' Coming Down." The lead single, "Better Days," serves as a testament to the newly released album. After sharing a clip of the song on social media, it went viral, garnering attention across various platforms. The encouragement and honesty found in "Better Days" and throughout Ryan's music resonate in Real Love, as the album draws listeners closer to the Father and offers a peace that's more profound than the struggles we may endure. - Bradden Ford
Russ Mohr - "Only Love" and "Say So"
Christian artist Russ Mohr has created excitement with his albums The Kingdom Sessions, released in 2019, and The Kingdom Session Reimagined, released in 2020. In 2024, he released 10 singles that will all be included in his upcoming album, The Kingdom Sessions, Volume 2. He is somewhat of a hybrid artist, blending pop, soul, R&B, and gospel elements. The upcoming single, “Only Love,” is a timely song that is much needed—and I hate to sound redundant—considering the ongoing division in the nation. Old-school worship fans will appreciate the “Ancient of Days” interpolation in the chorus.
In early January 2025, Russ released a maxi single titled "Say So," featuring the tracks "You Don't Waste a Thing" and "Safe." “You Don’t Waste a Thing" features worship director Cole McSween, who frequently collaborates with Russ. The song has a '70s soul vibe reminiscent of the Doobie Brothers and Elton John’s “Bennie and the Jets.” “Say So (feat. Christian artist Royce Lovett)" encourages us to share joy and love, ensuring we never keep it to ourselves. That’s the essence of God's love. Russ Mohr exudes such a vibe, and I hope more people take the time to appreciate his music. - Dwayne Lacy
Stephen Stanley - TBA
There has been a lot of buzz around various albums lately, and as someone who enjoys good music, I found it quite challenging to pick just one standout project. After much thought, I ultimately chose to highlight Stephen Stanley’s upcoming album. Although the project is still untitled and has no set release date, Stephen recently announced on his Instagram Broadcast Channel that his second album is officially completed. Stephen’s debut album, Divided Frame of Mind, has been a cornerstone of my playlist and holds a place in my heart.
His distinctive ability to blend pop and rock elements creates a captivating musical experience that resonates with many listeners. The melodies are catchy, and the lyrics convey deep emotions and relatable themes, making his work unique. Since their release, his new singles “Gonna Have To Trust You” and “Not By Sight” have constantly repeated for many listeners. Each track demonstrates his growth as an artist and his exceptional songwriting skills. The melodies are infectious, and the lyrics are thought-provoking, engaging the listener with each listen.
As a young artist on Capitol Records' roster, Stephen Stanley represents a fresh and promising voice in the music industry. I’m genuinely excited to see how he continues to evolve as an artist and what new experiences this upcoming album will bring to his fans. His passion and talent make it clear that he has a bright future, and I can't wait to witness his journey unfold. - Brendan Burke
