Music uniquely resonates with our hearts, especially on our faith journey, reminding us of God’s promises and constant presence. For Christian band Unspoken, songs like "God Help Me," "You've Always Been," and "Higher" capture the essence of leaning on God's strength amid life’s battles.
Each track is a heartfelt prayer and a call to remember that God is faithful and working for our good no matter our struggles. Through honest lyrics and uplifting melodies, Unspoken invites listeners to find encouragement and hope, knowing that God is still at work in our stories, writing His redemption and grace into every chapter.
Their album, The Reason, featuring standout tracks like Reason,” “You’ve Always Been,” and “Help is on the Way,” was my Top Album of 2019. In 2023, Unspoken returned with new music for the first time in four years, releasing the five-song EP God Help Me, inspired by the book of Psalms.
Songs like "God Help Me" celebrate God’s sovereignty, declaring Him the ultimate ruler of our lives, and offer a refreshing clarity in their unambiguous, Gospel-centered lyrics. As they return with “What He Says About You,” Unspoken continues to exemplify how to write and sing unashamed lyrics of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, reaching the lost with transparent confessions of faith. True to form, their latest release, IV, reflects real life and emotion, from longing and struggle to breakthrough and gratitude.
Each song displays the band’s passion and commitment to leading people in worship, making them one of Christian music's most compelling acts. To celebrate their music ministry and in connection with their new single “Where My Joy Comes From,” I’ve compiled my top 5 Unspoken songs—the essentials that define their inspiring journey.
“God Help Me”
“God Help Me” reminds us to read His Word—the Holy Bible—and to have a relationship with Him in prayer. No matter your circumstances, you need to remember and pray, "God help me now/Feels like there's no way out/But Jesus You're faithful and able/And You've never once let me down/God help me now."
The song is a heartfelt plea for divine help in overwhelming struggle and uncertainty. The lyrics express a raw and honest cry for God's presence, capturing the vulnerability of feeling lost and needing His guidance. The song's powerful chorus and relatable message remind us we can always turn to God for strength and hope, no matter how difficult life gets.
We can face our daily battles with more courage and strength because we know that whatever the outcome, based on His promise in Romans 8:28, "God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose."
We are united in our struggles, spiritual warfare, and desire for truth and relationship. The Lord wants us to spend time with Him every day.
“You’ve Always Been”
“You’ve Always Been” is an offering and submission to God’s supernatural ability to keep together what would otherwise fall apart. This song is a very convicting and sobering reminder that God brings trials to remind us how much we need Him. It gives glimpses of life's authentic reality and good and bad experiences.
Life doesn’t go as we want or even how we pray for God to work in our lives. We're all united in our struggles, spiritual warfare, and desire for truth and relationship. The Lord wants you to spend time with Him every day.
“You’ve Always Been” is a great reminder to spend time reading His word, The Holy Bible, and to have a relationship with Him in prayer. No matter your circumstances, remember, “Everything I’ve needed, Lord/You’ve always been/Oh, yes You have/Thank You Jesus/You've always been.”
“Higher”
I can't get enough of this song's beautifully poetic and powerful expressions of faith. What's incredible about this upbeat song is that it provides encouragement and personal motivation to fight the good fight of faith and finish the race of life strong.
God knows what we need and loves and cares for us deeply. When you put yourself under a microscope and examine whether you believe all of the song’s words, you'll find that it will challenge your faith and how closely you are walking with God. The song also addresses the spiritual fight that we all face daily. Satan gives us temptations, which God considers trials that we can overcome.
"Higher" is a song, a prayer, and a call for revival in our hearts. I’m challenged to believe these words when I sing along and believe with all of my heart: "All that I have, all I've been given, all of my life's ambition, is to worship, is to honor, is to bring You praise."
“Reason”
I love how "Reason" expresses the truth of our earthly challenges. This song has resonated with me as I realize that Jesus commands us to trust God completely—no matter our circumstances, personal distractions, or concerns. The song is about faith and letting God's plans be revealed.
This song reminds me that there is a reason for everything under heaven. As His children, we can all rest knowing that we can fully trust in God and not lean on our understanding. We're all united in our struggles, spiritual warfare, and desire for truth and relationship. The Lord wants us to spend time with Him every day. "Reason" is a great reminder to spend time reading His Word and the Holy Bible and to have a relationship with Him in prayer.
As the song proclaims, "He put that hunger in your heart/He put that fire in your soul/ His love is the reason." No matter your circumstances, you must remember, "When you feel like giving up/when you feel like giving in/His love is the reason/To keep on believing."
“Good Fight”
The upbeat song "Good Fight" is incredible because it encourages and motivates individuals to persevere in their faith and finish the race of life with strength. The music connects to Paul's letter in 1 Corinthians 9, where he discusses running the race and addresses Paul completing the race after over 30 years of ministry in 2 Timothy.
The song also addresses the spiritual struggles that we face every day. While we tend to focus on the physical aspects of life, it's important to remember that God doesn't give us temptations that we can't overcome. These temptations are from Satan, and God sees them as trials that we can overcome. God wants us to be refined and always gives us a way out. The lead singer’s story of overcoming his addiction in "My Recovery" is celebrated in "Good Fight." Whatever struggle you face, "Keep fighting the good fight, keep letting your light shine."
