Passion is a student movement and church located in Atlanta, Georgia, with many different aspects. In this devotional, I'm going to focus on the worship band. I've been following the team for a while now and even found myself singing their songs after returning from church summer camps. They collaborated with various Christian music guests at their annual conference, as demonstrated on their latest album, I've Witnessed It (Live).
Their passion for the Lord (yes, pun intended) is unparalleled, and I adore the opportunity to bask in Passion's creativity. I'll explore one of my favorites from I've Witnessed It, "All About You." I'll also explore their newest single with contemporary artists Kristian Stanfill and Cody Carnes, "He Who Is To Come." Let's dive in.
"All About You"
"The winds of worship blowing
The doors of heaven open
Jesus, You're at the center, Lord help us to remember
The reason why we do this."
I adore every song on the I've Witnessed It (Live) record, but if I had to pick one, I'd choose "All About You." As the first song on the album, there is a tangible sense of energy. Kristian Stanfill leads the incredible melody with the expectation of God coming in and changing lives. His excitement is evident, and for that reason, everything about this tune drew me in.
God consistently shows up and does extraordinary things at Passion's conference. Releasing the music from those moments is a reminder that He can also work the rest of the year. He is not a stagnant God or contained in one place. What a miracle it is that we have music (such fantastic music like this) to share His love with those listening.
"He Who Is To Come"
"He who is to come
Christ, the Son of man
Riding on the clouds
With a crown upon His head."
I smiled when I first heard this song. One of the first lyrics is, "No darkness no night/The sun will light the way." Of course, it can be seen that in plain text, "sun" is formatted as the glowing star in the sky. However, when I was listening, it was a fun play on words to know the Son, as in Jesus, also lights our way.
The song continued communicating joy after this line, and I couldn't stop listening. This song felt fated to be placed here in this article (or, more accurately, God arranged it to be so). This article, the 150th in my Worship Reflective series, will be my last contribution to NewReleaseToday. It is painful to think of moving on, but I know it is what I need to do now to prepare for a new season of life.
I'm beyond grateful to everyone at NRT, including the founder, Kevin; my editor, Phill; one of my best friends and editor, Grace; and the rest of the team who have supported me from day one. Thank you to every artist who has made space for my inexperience as I've struggled through concert photography and virtual and in-person interviews. It wasn't always graceful, but I never once regretted taking the opportunity. It has been an honor to work with such a wonderful community. I will miss everyone dearly, but I hope to preserve these connections.
No matter how long you have been reading the Worship Reflective series, I also want to thank you. The idea that my words are reaching outside my usual span of influence astonishes and empowers me. My goal has always been to lead readers into a space of worship. I hope my words and His truth have served that purpose for you.
I'm so grateful for 150 articles and everyone who has been there along the way. I don't know what is coming next, but I certainly understand: "There is a king coming/The one who conquered death and grave/No more pain and no more sorrow/This hope for tomorrow/Is our hope for today." No matter what the future holds for me, I promise you that "He Who Is To Come" will return to save.
