VIVE Worship, a worship team for VIVE Church in San Francisco, California, is on a mission to write and record faith-based songs that speak boldly about the name of Jesus. The group comprises many unique musicians, all sharing a passion for the Lord. Around a year and a half ago, I reviewed their album, Yes and Amen, in a previous column, and since then, I have continued to admire their various projects. The worship team has released their latest album, Genesis, which offers another opportunity to experience their powerful worship music.
Eden
"What a friend I've found in Jesus
You are with me through every season
Now I'm here, no, I'm never leaving
This is Eden"
A place of beauty in abundance: even the technical definition of "Eden" reflects the wonder of the Lord. It can be difficult to comprehend such an environment of peace in the grimy mess of life. But it is simply the nature of God to have an awe-worthy presence.
Until we reach heaven, resting in His Holy Spirit is where we will experience rest. Remember that He resides within you once you have accepted Jesus Christ into your heart. There is no physical place you must go to experience supernatural calm. The power is in you. Could you hold onto that today and breathe? I pray your longing will soon become all and only for Jesus. He is beyond any adjectives I could use; I pray the goodness I can't describe will become natural for you.
Daybreak
"When the morning comes
Lord, You wait with mercies new
I see Your light; it's breaking through"
In the song, VIVE Worship spends minimal time describing the past life of sinners. Instead, the team emphasizes the new path of those who are saved. This significance is proof of their reliance on the Lord, an excellent model for Christians. Regardless of our stage in considering our walk with God, we are saved.
There is no need to dwell on the past; anxiety over what has already occurred can make it more challenging to progress in faith. I understand the trauma some may have gone through, and I do not intend to minimize that. But, it remains essential that whatever we leave at the altar stays there. It takes trust, but I pray that you will begin to believe His "goodness will follow" wherever you go.
