Stemming from Influence Church in Anaheim Hills, California, Influence Music is, in their words, "dedicated to facilitating the creation and release of music that glorifies God." The talented group of creatives is home to some of LA's most gifted musicians. Their dedication is unparalleled, leading many to sacrifice high-level positions this world would use to classify them as "famous" in favor of success in the eyes of the Lord.
2018 marked the beginning of this group venture and it has only grown since then. With the recent release of Before The Breakthrough, Influence Music celebrates the goodness of God and the miracles still to come. We dive into two of their anthems, below.
Nobody Leaves The Same
There's nothing like your spirit
Rushing like a wind of freedom
Nobody leaves the same
No, nobody leaves the same
The joy that emanates from these passionate followers of Jesus during this song creates a contagious moment of praise. I absolutely loved singing along and I hope you can also smile in the presence of the Lord today after hearing the truth-packed melody.
When the Spirit of the Lord enters the room, those truly seeking Him will know. Although that is admittedly a vague description of His presence, it's the best I can do given the wide variety of ways He has shown up in my life. The line "I wanna praise while you are breaking through" is so powerful because of the reflection it induces. Am I waiting to praise until I see my miracle or am I willing to sing all the way through? Jesus changes lives and He could be working in a new way right now all around you. It is easier than one may think to ignore such a moment, and I pray that we would not do that, but rather have a more willing heart this week towards our Lord. Keep your eyes wide open, He is moving and nobody leaves the same.
By Your Spirit
No, we don't have to chase after healing
Just the Healer himself
And we don't need to beg for Your presence
In our praises You dwell
Kim Walker-Smith absolutely blew me away in this song, with stunning vocals and lyrics, all the while pointing the praise back to God. Her collaboration with Influence Music was authentic and it was an honor to partake in worship with her even if only through the mode of recorded music.
"Not ashamed to be fully dependent/On The Great I Am" is the declaration I captured with utter clarity from this song. I love the honesty accompanying this statement and the level of worship it encompasses. Sometimes it is difficult watching others progress in their career, relationships, and just life in general; the spirit of jealousy is rampant in this world, but one word can squash it all. Jesus. When we point our focus back onto Him, there is no need to compare ourselves to those around us, because suddenly it's not a race of who is doing better. I personally love watching worship leaders who have seen more of Jesus than I have because it pushes me to dive deeper into my relationship with Him. Only by His Spirit is this possible, because I promise you that my fleshly desires lean towards quite the opposite direction. So I pray that as rest in the hope of this song, you would be propelled in your faith by these worship leaders, but not put down. We all have quite a way to go, but thank goodness God is with us through it all. Chase after the Healer, without the comparison factor, and the rest will follow.
