VOUS Worship is a diverse group of singers and songwriters who have joined together in their quest to passionately praise Jesus. Each group member shares this common passion for God. Each member wants His kingdom to reign on Earth. The worship band represents the Florida-based VOUS Church. The church's mission is "to go into the night carrying the message of Jesus and to bring the broken home."
This passion is skillfully exemplified in their newest album, I Met Jesus In Miami. Over the course of 15 tracks, VOUS Worship shares their story and their claim to victory in Jesus.
Here's a look into the messages behind two songs from this album. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
"Rejoice"
I've got a joy down in my heart
I've got a love that never stops
I've got a peace that passes understanding
That's what I've got
As the sweet voices of VOUS Worship sang this song of peace, I felt a fresh wave of peace wash over me. The song elegantly reminded me that the joy of the Lord is not contingent on any worldly events. And, therefore, even though my life has been a bit crazy lately, I still have access to this joy.
It's the joy that makes me want to love others like I never have before. It's the passion that gets me on my feet to share God's Word. It's the peace that holds me together when I try my hardest to break into pieces, desperate for attention on the worst days. It's all in God and hallelujah for that.
"The Lord is near," the choir declares, "let my heart be sure of this." I cherish that line and found myself singing it, reading it, anything I could do to ingrain it into my heart. We all need a Jesus encounter; I pray that "Rejoice" will open the floodgates of heaven so you may experience joy right where you're at, just as I was able to.
"Up On This Rock"
Up on this rock
Hell don't stand a chance
Heaven's got my back
This house is built to last
VOUS Worship puts a unique beat to these powerful words. And the catchiness of the melody caught me by surprise. I will definitely belt out this anthem of confidence for many days to come.
There's nothing in life that lasts forever except for that of my Heavenly Father. The faith He's built up in me is reaffirmed by the miracles I've seen and the wonders I've heard.
I love how the worship team cries out, "My joy was built for this/My peace was built for this/My strength was built for this," each declaration, one after the other. I'm prone to forgetting my position as a child of God when I'm thrown down by heartache and disappointment. But that's the time I need to remember it the most.
Keeping these lyrics on repeat in my mind is a sure way to remain affirmed by the love of Jesus and also a great reminder to talk to Him through prayer. When I feel that I've reached my weakest point, it's always God who comes through. And I hope this song offers an equally moving message to you.
