Each week, dozens of singles and a handful of projects are released in the Christian Hip-Hop (CHH) and Urban Soul spaces. Wande - "They Don't Know II" Reach Records' sole female artist returns with her first single of 2022. Through social media hints, she mentioned it's "Blande's" time to shine. "Blande" is an alter ego Wande likes to use when she displays her lyricism skills of "rap, rapping". The first version of the track dates back to October 2015 pinpointed as her second-ever song posted to Soundcloud. Nearly seven years later, day one fans are treated to part two.
The 808s (bass line) hit hard enough to gain song credits as they're beyond prevalent shaking listeners to the soul. The synth sounds highlighted in Trip Lee's recent album (The End.) release seem to carry over too. The single artistically displays Wande's gift to flow through one sixteen after another near flawlessly. If anything is to be learned from the first single this year, Wande didn't come to play. Tee-Wyla feat. Aable, Q-Flo, & PRODI - "NORF" Philly's own Tee-Wyla reminds hip-hop of the power behind boom-bap production. Live drums and rambunctious piano keys lay the groundwork for essentially a freestyle between three emcees. Newcomer Aable, Q-Flo, and Prodi da Prodigal lace the track with hard-hitting punchlines back-to-back absent of any hook. Each rapper showcases their rhyme schemes and wordplay continuously. It's definitely one of the grittiest tracks I've heard in a while equipped for the streets. Stream "NORF" on Spotify here.
CRFT feat. Battz & nobigdyl. - "Gratitude"
We celebrate another prominent producer in CHH, CRFT. ATL resident CRFT founded BeatCurve Records to promote the message of Jesus Christ and inspire the beat culture globally. The single is included on the forthcoming album, Open Your Eyes, dropping April 1.
CRFT brought together two of the top rappers in the culture right now, Battz and indie tribe.'s nobigdyl. Battz is an up-and-coming artist poised to amass a huge following and solid streaming numbers. Dyllie is already a staple of CHH only gaining momentum with each new release or feature. Battz contributes not only a verse, but the hook for the track too. Dyllie displayed his A-game bouncing between creative wordplay and punchlines. It's the perfect track to release a week before the album gaining interest and curiosity as to what CRFT brings to the subgenre as a whole. Stream "Gratitude" on Spotify here.
