Each week, dozens of singles and a handful of projects are released in the Christian Hip-Hop (CHH) and Urban Soul spaces. Below, we listen to a few highlights and list the rest for your own discovery. As always, follow our New Christian Rap & Hip Hop playlist on Spotify and Apple Music to listen to all the latest.

Aaron David - "Brand New"
Tampa, Florida’s pop-soul artist Aaron David returns with his latest single. This is David’s first release of 2022 and seventh overall since 2018. He’s yet to release a debut album. His most popular song, “RPG”, was released in 2020 gathering over 30,000 streams on Spotify. With a sound similar to Tauren Wells, his energy is infectious. The new single speaks to being brand new in Christ Jesus through the salvation available at the cross. Also, builds on how faith opens doors previously unavailable. The combination of an electric and bass guitar, a tambourine, and live drums collectively would perform well on a stage while touring. It’s upbeat. Full of energy and sure to get listeners’ bodies grooving. Stream “Brand New” on Spotify here.

The End. by Trip Lee
Dallas Texan and one of the founding members of the Reach Records 116 Clique movement in 2004, Trip Lee returns with his seventh project and sixth studio album after a six-year hiatus. During those six years, Lee focused on family, being an active pastor, beginning the writing of his third book, and juggling busy days with chronic fatigue syndrome. Also, Lee learned how to produce his own tracks with excellence adding a new character to the album. Mashell (Leroy) and Lee co-produced the project sprinkled with a few guest producers such as JUICEBANGERS on “Stone.” The end result is experimental, energetic, and a different, welcoming sound than Lee’s established fan base is accustomed to.

Standout tracks include “Right Out The Gate,” “Witness” featuring Wande and WHATUPRG, as well as “Call It Life”. The stomping of the hardened piano chords on “Right Out The Gate” puts me in mind of the genius production Dr. Dre is famous far. “Witness” features one of Wande’s strongest feature efforts and stamps her current season of “Blande” and her skill to “rap RAP” over beats. “Call It Life” has a genius surprise fans are sure to applaud.

The analog and synth vibes present on this album are not classic to Lee’s previous releases, however, feel refreshing. They put one in mind of an 80s video game or soundtrack to one of the infamous Rat Pack movies. Even with the retro feel, the combined sound is modern and nearly futuristic in nature. I’m excited to read the feedback from fans and critics alike as we can all agree we’re hyped by Lee’s return to producing art through music. Stream The End. on Spotify here.

Coop - "PSA"
Oklahoma's own Coop hints at the beginning of the end with his third release of 2022. “PSA” displays Coop’s pure lyricism talents on a mic as it’s just full of one lethal set of sixteens after another, no hook. The track may stand as Coop’s best single body of art based on the strings of wordplay compiled matched again the hardened rhyme schemes and stacked double meanings. He may have just turned 20 last month, but Coop level of comfort as an emcee has the feel of a veteran. An example of lyric supremacy is in the bars, “Don’t matter if you say Chuck Taylors or Converse / Imma chuck the deuce and converse with God first.” For the last four years, Coop’s pen game has drastically improved and balanced out to one of the best in the CHH space. The instrumentation goes crazy on this one too as NXT MOVE’s 100 graham continues to grow into one of the standouts from a producer’s standpoint. That switch-up was crazy smooth. Stream “PSA” on Spotify here.
