It's a new year, which means there's a lot of new music in store for us. From rock band Skillet to contemporary artist Martin Smith, there's something new for everyone. Today, I'm going to look at some of the most anticipated releases for winter 2022.

Skillet - Dominion (1/14)

Skillet has been rocking the world since 1996, and they show no signs of slowing down. For over 20 years, they've been releasing hit after hit, and their upcoming album, Dominion, seems promising. The 12-song album dropped on January 14 and features previously released singles, "Surviving The Game" and "Standing in the Storm."

It's been three years since Skillet released their last album, Victorious, which makes Dominion one of their most highly anticipated albums. To add to the excitement, the band is currently headlining Winter Jam. What a way to kick-off 2022.

Casting Crowns - Healer (1/14)

Casting Crowns has been a huge voice in Christian music since the early 2000s. Their 2005 hit "Praise You In This Storm" started a chain reaction of new worship songs for the Church. Hits include "East to West," "Oh My Soul," and their new classic, "Only Jesus." On January 14, they dropped their 10-track album, Healer, which features their hit song "Scars in Heaven." Casting Crowns have already firmly established themselves in the music industry, so it will be exciting to see what else they bring on this new record.

planetboom - You, Me, The Church, That's Us (1/14)

Worship bands Planetshakers and planetboom are always releasing new music, so it's no surprise that planetboom will be releasing a brand new album called You, Me, The Church, That's Us. The band hasn't released much information about this album yet. But we can be sure that whatever planetboom releases will be energetic and worshipful. Their last album JC Squad blended electronic dance music (EDM) and worship, thus giving youth and young adults a collection of songs to listen to. Whatever planetboom has up their sleeve for You, Me, The Church, That's Us, I'm sure it's going to be great.

Seventh Day Slumber - Death By Admiration (1/28)

Seventh Day Slumber is a Christian rock band that has been releasing music for over 20 years. In 1999, they released their debut studio album, Matthew Twenty Five. And since then, they've released dozens of worship and rock songs. In 2021, the band released an Unseen: The Lion And The Lamb, which features worship song covers, such as "Reckless Love" and "Waymaker." This January, they'll release a new record, Death By Admiration. Based on the title and their recent single, "What I've Become," I think we can expect to see the heavier side of Seventh Day Slumber come out on this new album. Get ready, rock fans.

Martin Smith - Dancing In The Fire (2/4)

If you haven't heard of contemporary artist Martin Smith before, you've probably heard of his contemporary Christian band Delirious?. Although the band parted ways in 2009, their songs are still sung in churches around the world. Also, former frontman Martin Smith has continuously released new music since 2009. On February 4, he'll release a brand new album, Dancing In The Fire. Martin hasn't lost his touch. He's still creating songs that are impactful and meaningful. The musical talents also run in the family. His daughter Elle Limebear is also a musician. Martin's new album features her vocals on "Our Eyes Are On You." If you like worship music, Martin's new album is one that you won't want to miss out on.

SEU Worship - Walk With You (2/4)

Speaking of worship music, SEU Worship is releasing a new album, Walk With You, in February. The 11-track collection features their latest singles, "Walk With You" and "We Say Yes," along with new songs like "Good Things" and "Testify." Along with the album, SEU will also release 11 accompanying music videos to go with the songs. SEU Worship's music is similar to Hillsong Young & Free or Passion--all of their songs are full of theological truths and worshipful melodies. Walk With You is an album that every worship fan will want to get their hands on.

Rebecca St. James - Kingdom Come (2/18)

In the mid-1990s, contemporary icon Rebecca St. James burst into the Christian music scene. People quickly picked up on her music, and her songs became hits. But after her 2011 album I Will Praise You, she took a break from releasing music. But that wasn't the end of her career. In 2020, Rebecca returned with full force and dropped a new album, Dawn. Rebecca is keeping the momentum going, and this February she'll release another new album, Kingdom Come. The album's title track dropped in October 2021. And it features her brothers Joel and Luke Smallbone of for KING & COUNTRY. Rebecca St. James has certainly made a comeback.

DOE - Clarity LP (2/18)

DOE, otherwise known as Dominique Jones, released her debut self-titled EP in 2020. Since then, she's been featured on songs with artists and groups, such as Matt Maher, Maverick City Music, and Skye Reedy. Although DOE is a new artist, she's quickly become an artist to keep your eye on. This February, she'll release her first full-length album, Clarity. She hasn't shared many details about the new release yet. But based on the songs she's already released, Clarity will most likely be a hit. DOE has an incredible sound, and I can't wait to listen to her new album.

Chris Renzema - Get Out Of The Way Of Your Own Heart [Deluxe] (2/25)

Contemporary artist Chris Renzema is one of my current favorite artists in Christian music. His songs are raw and honest. Something that's very much needed during this time in our world. He released his latest 12-track album, Get Out Of The Way Of Your Own Heart, in September 2021. And, in February, he'll release the album's deluxe edition. With all of these new releases, this will be a great winter.
