NO WARNINGS EP by YB
Bold Records’ YB surprised his devout fanbase and CHH as a whole with a new EP released off-cycle on Tuesday, September 7. NO WARNINGS is a 4-track EP including features by Mike Teezy, GodFearin, and labelmate Coop. Also, his in-house producer, 100graham, produced the EP.
YB chose the verses from his three features to proceed his own which, at times, can be a questionable choice for various reasons. It speaks volumes of the fact he finds joy in seeing others shine. After listening through the included tracks, the choice worked in YB’s favor. Each track has a defined, different feel and flow.
The opener “It’s All Him” featuring Mike Teezy takes the trophy as my standout track from the four. The 808’s run deeper than Atlantis. The rhyme schemes are creative and innovative throughout. YB is closing in on 100,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and has gathered over 4 million Spotify streams to date. Stream NO WARNINGS on Spotify here.
Corey Wise x OnBeatMusic feat. OUTATIME! - "I MIGHT NOT BE BREATHING"
Indie Maryland-based rapper Corey Wise released his fourth single from his upcoming fourth studio album since 2018. Wise has been a constant voice for the mental health community as he often speaks out about his own personal struggles. Being Suicide Prevention Month (September), the new single is quite timely with its release. Produced by OnBeatMusic, the track reeks creativity. It’s a welcomed innovative sound infused with a punk rock vibe. The sonics of guitar chords and riffs, a mixture of live drums aside trap drums aligned with the energized featured rock band OUTATIME! combines for consideration for the release of the night. This partnership between Wise and OUTATIME! cement what I’ve said all along, we need more hip-hop and rock mashups. Stream “I MIGHT NOT BE BREATHING” on Spotify here.
KB (prod. by Scootie Wop x Quinten Coblentz) - "Worship in the Moshpit"
After remaining silent for nearly a full year after the release of his last studio album, His Glory Alone,KB returns with a certified banger. The single encompasses an entire 45-minute stage performance captured in under 4 minutes. KB’s iconic energy, masterful wordplay, and overall delivery were near perfection. CHH’s own Scootie Wop and Quentin Coblentz handled production duties creating organized chaos, similar to the typical makeup of a festival moshpit. The driving low and high keys, guitar riffs, hook echoes, and overall track dynamics are precision over hysteria. Wop and Coblentz captured the essence of a real-life moshpit transporting listeners center stage frontline ramming into others repeatedly. As a concert fanatic, this track finds space as my new personal anthem. Stream “Worship in the Moshpit" on Spotify here.
