planetboom is the youth version of the worship band Planetshakers. planetboom is a fairly new band, and just released their first full-length album in March. Their music is similar to Planetshakers, but planetboom is a band that can definitely connect more to teenagers. planetboom hails from Australia, so if you want to know what a band like Social Club Misfits and Hillsong Young & Free sounded like if they teamed up together, it would probably sound like planetboom's song "LEMME TELLYA." It's pretty awesome.
Hillsong Young & Free
Hillsong Young & Free is the youth arm of Hillsong Church in Australia, that brings a fun and exciting twist to worship music. The band released their fourth full-length project last year called III, which included a handful of songs that you've probably heard on the radio, like "Love Won't Let Me Down" and "Let Go." "We are a youth ministry by name, but by identity, we are a people who have found hope, salvation, joy, forgiveness and a future in Jesus Christ. Our songs are the overflow of our hearts and a reflection of life in Jesus."
LYA (Lakewood Young Adults)
Lakewood Young Adults came out of Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas. The youth band was joined by Lakewood Church's worship leader Tauren Wells in their live music video "I've Got a Fire." The band just released a brand new single called "Feels Like Heaven," that will get anyone in a good mood.
Most youth bands have adults singing songs for kids, but Bethel Kids' songs are actually sung by kids, for kids! Bethel takes popular worship songs and puts their own twist to them. Bethel Kids also has an album under the name Bright Ones, which includes some of their original songs, as well as songs from other Bethel Music albums. Bright Ones also came out with a movie a few months back, that could be described as a Christian High School Musical, that kids and adults are sure to love.
Rend Co. Kids
By now, I'm sure most parents are pretty tired of hearing "Baby Shark" on repeat. So Rend Collective decided to come out with an album that both parents and kids will enjoy. Rend's brand new kids band is called Rend Co. Kids, and their first album called Sparkle. Pop. Rampage came out August 30th. They released their first single at the beginning of August called "FUN," and it's really just that. Fun! "As a family, we are always looking for ways to encourage and inspire our kids." Rend Co. Kids said on their Instagram. "After finding it hard to discover things that we all enjoyed listening to as a family we decided we needed to be part of the solution–hence Rend Co. Kids was born!"
Gateway Kids Worship
Gateway Kids Worship is a part of Gateway Worship, which came out of Gateway Church in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas. This youth band has three albums, and some of the songs on the albums have been turned into dance motion videos, that are great for VBS! Gateway's hope is to inspire families to have fun while worshiping God. Their music is appealing to all ages, and their videos will have the kids wanting to get off their feet and dance!
ELEVATION RHYTHM is a brand new band, that just started up last month! The band is a worship band, that's geared towards youth and young adults. ELEVATION RHYTHM is an extension of Elevation Worship, which came out of Steven Furtick's Elevation Church. The band only has two singles so far, but said they have so much more to come.
Light Kills Dark (LKD)
LKD is part of the Fearless International Label, and they have a total of four songs. LKD does rap songs, which young people will definitely be able to get into! Their song "Pioneer Remix" features Pastor Jeremy Johnson from Fearless LA church. LKD's songs are similar to Lecrae, the highly praised rapper that has become a rap legend in the CCM world.
Grace Chaves is a fan of all things Christian music, and is one of NRT's youngest writers. She's homeschooled, and loves concerts, Jesus, and songwriting.
