We explore 6 standout worship moments from All Sons & Daughters, including the most recent addition "I Surrender."
Few artists are as raw and vulnerable in their worship music as All Sons & Daughters. For Leslie Jordan and David Leonard, folky acoustic worship is their wheelhouse. In a "perfectly imperfect" kind of way, their style of organic praise is captivating. Watch them sing for even a minute and you'll understand what I mean as you see them get lost in worship while still beautifully leading their audience in a powerful time of surrender-- the true mark of a successful worship leader. Leslie's stunning vocals immediately grab the listener's attention, accented by David's harmony and the pair's gorgeous instrumentation.
Whether you've heard them one time or a thousand, my bet is that All Sons & Daughters will be high on your list of worship groups that powerfully move you into the presence of God. In anticipation of their new album Poets & Saints out later this year, we've gathered our top 6 favorite worship moments with Leslie and David.
1. "I Surrender"
This song may be brand new, but it's already a favorite for us. The first single from the upcoming record, Leslie and David have created a beautiful tribute to St. Francis of Assisi with this song. Accompanied by strong words of faith and dedication to Christ, the duo's flawless harmony really shines here, especially on the bridge as they tenderly yet boldly sing out: "Not my will, but Yours be done / not my strength, but Yours alone / nothing else but You, oh Lord / I find everything in You."
2. "Great Are You Lord"
Seeing All Sons & Daughters in a live setting is a powerful thing. Leslie and David have become masters at inviting the crowd into a genuine moment of worship with them. We see this best in this live video of "Great Are You Lord," where they lead the congregation in a moving time of singing together. This is All Sons & Daughters at their strongest: soft yet bold in their proclamation of praise.
3. "Reason To Sing"
A softer acoustic moment, Leslie's smooth and steady voice begins this song with all the raw emotion she can muster. One of the most honestly written worship songs I've ever heard, when Leslie sings these words, not only do you know she believes them, but you want to believe them too. Her stunning vocals make this song a standout in the catalogue of All Sons & Daughters tracks.
4. "Oh How I Need You"
One of the peppier interludes we get with All Sons & Daughters, "Oh How I Need You" is a remarkably crafted moment, giving us a bit of a Rend Collective feel yet staying true to Leslie and David's style. The song begins softly before bursting into a time of pure celebration and praise, again showcasing the band's effortless harmony in a fun bridge. This is my personal favorite moment from AS&D and one that is sure to get you moving as you sing along.
5. "Called Me Higher"
Another one of my personal favorite AS&D tracks, "Called Me Higher" is an intimate and emotional longing for direction. The song faces the topic of stepping out of our comfort zones and into the place the Lord has called us, but does so in a way that not only challenges us but also takes us to a place of vulnerable worship. Aided by Leslie's skillful guitar picking in the background, this moment is a powerful one from the All Sons & Daughters crew.
6. "Spirit Speaks"
David's raspy and strong vocals front this one as Leslie shows off her vocal range in the chorus. The emotion is his voice is so powerful that you feel it right along with him, singing the words at the top of your lungs in collective praise with AS&D. Another tender yet still bold moment as they seem to do best, you'll be glad you heard this song.
