Mariah Carey Made A Christmas Classic? Really?| Posted December 07, 2009
In lieu of last year's turning point for the band, House of Heroes has been doing their darnedest to make sure you remember them, all through a series of three 3-song EPs. First it was acoustic, then it was a Beatles cover EP, and now it's a Christmas one. Of course, whether it's good or bad, with the price tag you should definitely check out all their EPs; this one especially.
The EP is straight up Christmas music, with no real style deviation or original takes on the songs. What I mean is that HoH doesn't really try to put their stamp on the songs. 'All I Want" is essentially HoH singing the Mariah version, except slightly less poppy. 'Silent Night' is pretty basic instrumentally, but the vocals here give it the highlight of the EP. 'Oh Come Emanuel' is the most rock-oriented track on the EP, but I don't think the song really has any emotion to it, therefore hurting it to some degree.
Overall, you won't find any great & original takes on classics, but you will find a good straight-up Christmas EP. It doesn't try for much, and therefore doesn't get much, but hey, it's at a great price, so pick it up.
Surpirses for Christmas| Posted March 13, 2010
With House of Heroes latest release, a gift of unexpected surprises is opened. While "Silent Night" is just a re-packaged single previously released in 2009, the other two songs are extremely well written. "All I Want for Christmas Is You" comes from Mariah Carey's songwriting, but HoH makes it their own with a pop-rock bounce with front man Tim Skipper's vocals challenging Carey's own. "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" takes an acoustic rock flair with screaming chorus and a raging rock bridge. While only three songs, this EP doesn't disappoint.
Cool Christmas EP| Posted December 30, 2009
These guys rock and it would have been cool if they were able to record more songs and release a complete Christmas CD. I liked their versions of the songs they did. My favorite was Silent Night.

House of Heroes' Christmas release is one of the highlights of this years Christmas releases.Though it's a small release, only three songs, it stands tall with those three songs alone being alot better then some full length Christmas albums. They're release of "All I want for Christmas is you" is an excellent poppy Christmas tune, while "Oh Come all ye Faithful" is done phenomenally and one of the best versions of the song, and "Silent Night" is very soft and gives a great Christmas feel.
I give this album 4 stars and it stands as one of my top Christmas releases.
