On the Brink of It All [edit]
by Ever Stays Red | Genre: Pop/Rock | Release Date: March 11, 2008

Acclaimed rock band Ever Stays Red released its national debut album, On The Brink of it All, March 11, 2008, on Vertical Shift Records with EMI-CMG Distribution. Formed in 2004, Ever Stays Red has garnered a loyal following, playing over 250 concerts per year and landing three No. 1 radio singles in 40 US markets with two top 20 R&R hits from its independent album, I'll Tell the World.

With that momentum, the title track from On The Brink of it All was serviced to radio Nov. 30 and showcases Ever Stays Red's inventive, hard driving alternative rock with the distinctive vocals of lead vocalist Dustin Carlson, Zach Andresen on lead guitar, Erick Brunner on bass and Josh Carlson on drums. Co-produced by Ever Stays Red and industry veteran Ken Mary (Alice Cooper, The Beach Boys, Trik Turner, LaRue, Megadeth) and mixed by GRAMMY winning mixer/ recording engineer J.R. McNeely (Kutless, Jeremy Camp, Relient K), On the Brink Of It All promises to retain the band's unabashedly purpose driven message while charting new sonic territory.

"I wrote songs for the new album about never giving up on the dreams inside of you, songs about redemption, songs about daring to believe in what the world could be," says Carlson.

"Ever Stays Red offers an exciting crop of anthems ripe for the hearts and ears of rock aficionados and worship enthusiasts alike with On The Brink of it All," states Mary. "The band's national debut takes center stage with the support of a dedicated fan base built upon years of relentless touring. Melding its high energy, guitar-driven rock with compellingly honest vocals and spiritually gripping lyrics, the new album reflects the maturity of a band that, for the past four years, has lived and breathed to spread the eminent message of Christ through music."

The Tempe, Arizona-based foursome, who recently finished a tour with Kutless, has also performed with the likes of Jeremy Camp, Sanctus Real, Delirious?, Hawk Nelson, Thousand Foot Krutch, Everyday Sunday, Stellar Kart, Falling Up, Seven Places, and more.

"Ever Stays Red is one of the hardest working bands I have ever met," says Nick DePartee of Kutless. "I think this hard work shines brightly through in this record. Catchy melodies that hook the heart at first listen."

"We love these guys and their music," adds Chris Rohman of Sanctus Real. "We've had the pleasure of touring together, so it's exciting to hear some new songs... and I can say this is definitely Ever Stays Red at their best!"

With proceeds from its national tours, Ever Stays Red also funded two international tours to Belo Horizonte, Brazil where they performed nightly for thousands of young people, many of whom lived in the streets of the inner city. The band witnessed first-hand the power of music to transcend culture and creed, further solidifying their sense of calling. On the Threshold | Posted March 12, 2008

There's a new player on the musical field in Vertical Shift Records- a mission and ministry-oriented label. They've gathered an impressive roster of artists, in a very short time, that includes MTV's #1 undiscovered band Re:Zound (review forthcoming), the previously reviewed Out of Ruin and Ever Stays Red, their latest band to release a national debut through the label's recent deal with EMI Music/CMG Distribution.

The band's national bow, On the Brink of It All, is a hook-laden, high-energy disc full of appealing modern/alternative rock. Fans of guitar and percussion-driven rock anthems will find there is no shortage of aural agreeableness. There's no lack of intelligence and originality in the heartening lyrics either. The band's 4 year tenure as an independent act and intense touring schedule serves them well, as a polished lyrical and musical maturity is evident throughout.

Dustin Carlson's vocals are conveyed with a strident intensity that avoids shrillness or impenetrableness. Carlson obviously sings from somewhere deep within his being and does so with an abandon and passion that rivals Audio Adrenaline's frontman Mark Stuart. His timbre, style and delivery bring to mind Nevertheless' Josh Pearson and TFK's Trevor McNevan.

The Arizona-based band recently wrapped a tour with Kutless, and have also performed with Jeremy Camp, Sanctus Real, Delirious?, Everyday Sunday, Falling Up, Seven Places, and others. Nick DePartee of Kutless had this to say about the band: "Ever Stays Red is one of the hardest working bands I have ever met. I think this hard work shines brightly through in this record. Catchy melodies that hook the heart at first listen."

"We love these guys and their music," adds Chris Rohman of Sanctus Real. "We've had the pleasure of touring together, so it's exciting to hear some new songs... and I can say this is definitely Ever Stays Red at their best!"

With such ringing endorsements, Ever Stays Red is a band that belongs on your radar. Fans of modern rock bands Fono, This Beautiful Republic, Kids in the Way, Stellar Kart, and Thousand Foot Krutch shouldn't hesitate to get this first-rate debut.

Album of the year contender! | Posted May 10, 2008
On the Brink of It All kicks off with a short instrumental that leads perfectly into a title track- an energetic number that begs to be played at top volume and is pregnant with the hope of Heaven! This sets the stage for the entire album, and upbeat worship experience that makes perfect use of the unconventional rhythms and timing that have always marked Ever Stays Red's unique style. From the onset, through the energetic Love Outloud, anthemic Glorious, calming Look to the Hills, and everything between, this album is 100% filler-free. On the Brink of It All is not an album that you simply listen to- it's one you experience!

Amazing | Posted January 14, 2010
These guys are awesome! They came to my church as a part of their tour about a year and a half ago before that I hadn't really heard of them I now I hear about them all the time and even on the radio! My favorite songs on this album are 'Life in The Fire' and 'Glorious'. When they preformed Glorious live it was so amazing, you could really feel God's presence in the room as we all started singing along.

Better Get This One | Posted October 07, 2008
Hailing from Mesa,Arizona,Ever Stays Red has hit a home run with their new release On The Brink Of It All. This CD was released in March,2008 and I have been kicking myself for not getting this CD sooner. This band is awesome !! Lead vocalist Dustin Carlson has a voice so different and so distinctive that makes these songs so great.
"Rocks and Reeds" is an 55 second intro to the title song that if you didn't know it, you would think it is part of the song. "on the Brink of it All" is a fine rock song with a great message
to never give up. I can't believe this song has yet to gain popularity on Christian rock radio.
"Run" on the other hand was the Number 1 song on Christian rock radio for five weeks in a row. This is another great song. It rips with guitar and wild drums. I never tire of hearing this song.
"Can't Explain" is a great song. The lyrics to this song are awesome. It is a great song about God's forgiveness of our sins to a life lived for Him.
Other truly great song on this Cd are "Life in the Fire",agreat song dealing with one's own spiritual life. "Glorious" is a fine worship song that I am sure will also be a big hit for ESR. This song is upbeat yet also hits the mark with apassion for the Lord. "Look to the Hills"
will also be a big hit for ESR. This song is very positive and assuring of a new day coming- a
new Day of the Lord.
This CD is a sure fire top ten CD selection for 2008. There is not a bad song on this CD. I urge everyone to pick up this CD.Ever Stays Red is a band to keep an eye on for the future.
