Paralleling elements from the story of Naboth's vineyard in 1 Kings and passages from the apostles of the New Testament, "Real Zombies! Oh Heaven!" is Mike Rathke's latest concept album exploring the complexities of false teachers in the church. Sonically, the album is a throwback to the sounds of early folk artists of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Each track carries the story along as the listener is transported to a small midwest town in the early 1900s when a false teacher named Nick Pickle moves to the area under the guise of a pastor. However, as is often the case, the fruits of the false teacher present themselves in a trail of deception and abuse. "Real Zombies! Oh Heaven!" is a modern-day cautionary tale, echoing the cautions of "wolves in sheep's clothing" as described by Christ and the Apostles.
