As both a singer/songwriter and worship leader for several years, Dawson has written many praise songs that are at last available on this collection. On "Inhabit Our Praises", his 5th full-length release, he brings together 15 of his original worship songs that were written during his years as a worship leader at Oregon State University. These songs were sung in crowded living room Bible studies and in churches across Oregon when he would travel to share. Originally released on September 5, 2000, this rerelease has a different track order, one new song ("Restore My Soul"), and a new artwork package.
If you are looking for some great new scripture-based worship then check out this CD. Many of the songs come straight from the NIV version of Psalms or other passages with only some slight poetic-license thrown in for a more modern turn of phrase. Featuring Dawson's signature guitar style and carefully crafted lyrics, these songs will bring you before the throne in worship and bring peace to your soul. From the upbeat, Dave Matthews sax-filled sound of "I Give My Life" to the mellow ballad "Blameless Heart" reminiscent of Caedmon's Call, to the simple guitar trio on "Come Unto Me", this CD is sure to stir your heart with praise.
The theme and inspiration for this CD comes from the passage in Colossians 3:16-17 that reminds us "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."
