Limitless Has Limited Staying Power | Posted January-08-2013

Praise and Worship fans will be excited to know that Planetshakers' newest worship album will be hitting store shelves on January 15, 2013. Limitless features 13 tracks featuring live worship recorded at last year's Planetshakers Conference in Australia.

Most of the album is your typical Planetshakers P&W, opening with the  techno-drivin' "Let Praise Awaken." This is the style many PS fans are used to. After the opening tune, the album rolls into the remaining 12 tracks, most of which are medium to uptempo praise songs.

Overall, the album is pretty well produced, but Limitless carries limited creativity. I think this album will make PS fans happy, but those who like something new and creative will be disappointed. In fact, there are one or two tracks that listeners will swear they have heard the music track used in other PS material.

Worship pastors will likely jump all over songs like "The Anthem" and "This is the Day." "Anthem," which has been released before, has been re-cut and comes right out of the worship pastor handbook, utilizing the popular power ballad style that is so common in today's P&W music. Meanwhile, "This is the Day" is a driving, rocker that will get one's spiritual blood pumping. (Sadly, PS followed this song with the clunky "I'm Gonna Praise," ruining the flow of the album.)

The album's title track makes for a pretty cool, rocking track. You can check out it's video here:

Limitless gets a seven out of ten on my scale. Lack of anything really creative and memorable hurt it for me, but it is still a good album. Don't be surprised if you're singing one or two of these tracks in church, soon.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received a free preview of this album from New Release Tuesday as part of the album's pre-release promotion. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255 : “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.”
