Hi! I'm Matt Rees. I'm a worship leader and songwriter from Metro Detroit. I've been writing songs for a long time. I had computer time during piano lessons where I got to dabble in Music Ace and come up with some wild creations. I formed a couple of short-lived bands in middle school and high school, but when my parents finally got us a Mac in middle school for our family computer, I got sucked into Garageband and haven't stopped writing since. My parents were worship leaders at our church when I was growing up, and I cut my teeth on guitar and piano in a free-flowing worship environment. I love to sing the Psalms and write songs out of encounters with Jesus in the scriptures. I recorded my first studio EP in college, Nothing But The Cross with my parents, siblings, and some amazing friends. After graduating, I led worship at Metro Detroit Christian Church and recorded several songs with GRANDE and Felicity Joy for Mdcc Worship. Together we wrote and recorded 2020's Open the Gates project and 2021's Blood & Water, including Forever Freshly Slain with producer Logan Witte (Innocent Vigilant Ordinary). Most recently, I've been working with producer Jacob Rye ( Ghost Kingdoms and LO CLOUD) to put out . We released Redeemer EP in January 2024. More new music coming soon!
