TRANSIT believes American music needs to take one more step forward...
The American rock sound seems to often lack the incredible melodies coming from European acts, or they are an exact copy of those bands, and lose their aggressiveness American music is known for. TRANSIT is working to bridge the gap. Somewhere between sentimental melody and raw emotion, TRANSIT creates a new American World-Rock sound combining great tenor melodies, hopeful lyrics and ethnic-influenced rhythms in artful, yet simple, modern pop-rock songs.
HISTORY
In Lubbock, TX, home of Buddy Holly...
Lead singer, Chris Ray, and Guitar player, Scott Marshall, met at Texas Tech University and would perform together with other bands for 8 years. They shared a vision for their own sound along the lines of a U2 or Coldplay, but with underlying world-rhythm energy, and set off to pursue it via TRANSIT in 2004. Arno Roensch, the drummer, was added; and brought Latin rhythm influences to the duo's modern rock songs. Bass player David Petrey was the final addition, contributing a steady foundation to the vibrant sound. The band might have a little "Texas" in them somewhere, but they aspire to create a sound anyone can identify with. Dallas-based, the band song-write together, and also share the business tasks for the group.
