Shekina was born and raised in Detroit, MI. She is the youngest of the late (03/08/2023) Bishop James L. Whitehead and Lady Mollie Whitehead, Pastor and First Lady of 2 congregations Saints City and Whitehead Memorial who headed MI Southwest 2nd Jurisdiction. She served in her parent's ministry in the Youth Department and Music Department. She also served in the International Church of God in Christ Music Department from the age of 16 years old and was the youngest line singer under direction of Dr. Judith McAllister.
In 2017 she graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor of Art in Music with a focus on Vocal Performance. In October 2019, she married the love of her life Caleb Harrison Foster. In Feb 2021, she and her husband joined Greater Emmanuel Institutional Church of God in Christ where she serves under the leadership of the Presiding Bishop J. Drew Sheard and 1st Lady Karen Clark Sheard. She is mentored by Mo. Bettye Ransom Nelson, Vocal Coach Karen White and advised by Lady Karen Clark Sheard. She has had a love for singing since she was a little girl and wants her ministry to encourage all ages.
The goal of her music is to “Be the bridge between the old and new generation.” Shekina wants her music to inspire/inhabit change within the unbeliever. She treats singing as a one-on-one worship session with God. “No one is around, it’s just me and God. I love to worship!” Shekina wears her father's glasses in memory for her New EP Album available everywhere -Without You
