The Hero and a Monster started as an acoustic act in 2017 by Tyler Holden and released its first single "saved?" that June. Tyler went on to find a drummer named Ethan Mannon who would become the studio/live drummer but they had to part ways unfortunately due to different paths after their debut EP released entitled Always.

Tyler wasn't completely satisfied with what the bands sound was and decided to do a metalcore song with Louisiana based producer Zack Keel. As soon as Zack and Tyler started writing and recording a new single, Tyler knew that this is what he wanted for the band. Thus came the birth of "Heathen." Now Tyler has been joined by the likes of Jordan Thompson (guitarist from two by sea) and Kaleb Luebchow (drummer for )and they are ready to kick off this new season of music and perform these songs live!
