Climbing Blind is an up and coming band in the Christian music scene. In short, they are a group of friends who share a common desire to use the talents and music that God has blessed them with to spread the good news that is the gospel of Jesus Christ. Out of Lubbock, Texas, they have been going strong for a few months shy of two years and have no plans of slowing down.
It is the heart of Dusty, Zach and Tristan to be devoted to walking along side of people as they go throughout their day to day lives and all that it may bring. It is also their desire to invest in the spiritual wellbeing of those they encounter and see hearts change in a manner that can only be credited to the power of the Almighty God.
"Giving your life over to God's will is something that is a daily struggle," says lead singer Dusty Ledbetter, "and has to be a decision that is intentionally made on a consistent and continual basis." The songs that are featured on Climbing Blind's EP are about those struggles and about the importance of keeping your head up through those times while giving everything you have to trust and follow Christ, even when things may get tough. This is something that the band has come to understand extremely well over the years through personal experience and time spent in constant prayer. "It's amazing to see just how faithful God really is when we pursue him whole-heartedly, especially in the times when you feel like you can't make it any further," explained keyboard player Zach Simmons.
The band gets their name, Climbing Blind, from the story of Zacchaeus in Luke 19:1-10. Zacchaeus had a desire to see Jesus, but because of his physical short standing, he was unable to through the crowd of people. The story tells that he did not let this keep him from trying to see Jesus, because he climbed a tree so he might be able to catch a glimpse of him. What Zacchaeus didn't know was that Jesus would want to eat with him in his home, the home of a sinner and despised tax collector, and that he would never be the same after this encounter with Christ. Through this, you find the basis of Climbing Blind's ministry. It is established around helping people see that no matter what the circumstances in your life, you are never in a place where Jesus can't reach you. They want to help people see that if they will take that blind step of faith, possibly not knowing what could happen; God can change your life in unforgettable ways.
