So we're Chasing Canaan. And there are eight of us. We believe in the power of music, creativity, storytelling, and honest, transparent worship to connect, to heal, and to build up the Kingdom of God in our midst. Currently, we're living in Shreveport, LA, posing as students and employees while writing, gigging and dreaming together about what the Lord has in store for us next.
In the summer 2007, two of us went on a mission trip to Kenya. Prior to the trip, we asked six friends to lead worship with us in an effort to raise the money needed to get there. After playing together a couple of times, we decided we had too much fun together not to keep doing it. We’ve been playing, writing music, leading worship, and traveling together ever sense. Had it have been up to us, the majority of Chasing Canaan would be somewhere else right now going to school “where we really wanted to go” or doing “what we really wanted to do.” But before we knew that the rest of us existed, the Lord was closing doors and opening different ones. He led us kicking and screaming because He sees further than we do. We feel strongly that we have been divinely led out of our own previous plans and into this beautiful adventure together. We’ve tasted the promised land of the Kingdom of God and now cannot help but to live in pursuit of it, chasing after it together in our music, ministries, relationships, and every aspect of our lives. So we are - in name and in practice - Chasing Canaan.
