Makeda uses her music to bring forth a message of Love, Wisdom, Righteousness and Peace which embraces her afro-centric regal essence. Her instrument - a melodic mixture of Jazz, R&B, Gospel and Neo Soul with a splash of Spoken Word. She is currently a featured singer with the world renowned recording artist Teena Marie. She also opens selected engagements with her band – The House of Israel.

Her new project addresses her cultural heritage as an African America woman. The jazzy reggae opener “Whispers in the Wind” speaks of the loss Mother Africa feels since her children were taken away. “The Lily” - a sincere and heartfelt ballad which brings you to a place of faith and understanding that “if we believe,” we will always have what we need. The first single - “The Childhood Games”, uses a catchy nursery rhyme to confront immature views of love. Finally, the danceable tune called “My Life” – speaks of finding redemption from all life’s strongholds and confusion from a personal perspective.

Makeda says “I reached deep inside of myself and told the whole of what I know and have experienced so far on my journey of life, and I vowed to take the yoke off my own heart and mind. …And I believe I have achieved my goal – cause I’m free.”
