With their catchy guitar hooks and soaring vocal melodies, Days Divide will be straightforward in telling you that they aren't trying to reinvent the wheel. "The most important thing to us is the melody," says guitarist Kye Keefe. "I think that is a simple idea that most successful bands have understood and we're only trying to take that idea and make it our own." With their Debut LP "Aurora" set for release in early 2009, the band is ready to let the music speak for itself.
Recorded with award-winning producer Travis Wyrick (P.O.D., Pillar, Disciple), "Aurora" mixes hard-hitting guitars and drums with powerful and in-your-face vocals on songs such as "The End Has Come" and "Burn Away", while tracks such as "Long Sleeves in Summer" and "Sunset Eyes" blend dynamics with raw emotion. Add in the more upbeat and feel-good tracks such as "Left Behind" and "Edge of the Earth", and "Aurora" proves to be a truly diverse album.
Under a different name, the band released an EP and played many shows, including such Christian festivals as Ichthus and Rock Da'Ville, in 2007. The band has since recruited vocalist Morgan Boeckel and evolved their sound after countless hours of practice and a lot of soul-searching. "Things were pretty rough for us there for a while," says Keefe. "We all had this devotion to our music and wanted to go forward with it, but we just couldn't find someone who was equally devoted and who shared the same ideals as us. God really tested our faith in those times, and it has made us all stronger today." After teaming up with Boeckel in July of 2008, the band continued writing and rehearsing, playing a few one-off shows and opening for nationally-known rock band 12 Stones before entering the studio with Wyrick in September.
The band plans to begin making a name for themselves by putting their relentless work ethic into play and building their fan base through playing shows and promoting as much as possible throughout 2009 and beyond. Keefe offers this as the band's mantra: "We just want to share our passion with other people and influence lives with music in the same way that we have been influenced. Music is one of the most powerful mediums out there, and we choose to use it in a positive way. God has given us all a passion for this music, and we hope to do our part in making this world a better place with the gifts we have been given."
